This mess must be Bush's fault.
So much for non-union workers and good free food.

Gas rationing begins in NY; power outages persist

snip~
NEW YORK — A new gasoline rationing plan that lets motorists fill up every other day went into effect in New York Friday morning as a nor'easter that knocked out power anew to hundreds of thousands of customers erased some of the progress made by utility crews.

Police were at gas stations to enforce the new system in New York City and on Long Island. Drivers were out before dawn to line up for their rations.

An angry Gov. Andrew Cuomo joined the calls for an investigation Thursday, ripping the utilities as unprepared and badly managed.

"It's unacceptable the longer it goes on because the longer it goes on, people's suffering is worse," he said.

I dont  agree with ripping into the utility companies, I mean what the heck,,, a super storm then a nor'easter seriously slapping the living daylights out of the region,,,,I think all those that are up and running got there pretty darned quick considering....
the odd even fuel up is not that bad.... no worse then water rationing during a drought situation.... I think someone is just frustrated by it all....

Being from upstate New York;I can tell you gas lines formed in both Newburgh and Poughkeepsie. Both are small cities that are along the Hudson River. The run on gas stations has lessened;and gas lines are gone.

Odd even fuel line, takes me back to the oil embargo.  It was a pain in the butt but it got us through.

The fuel problems will be temporary. I know it didn't happen everywhere, but to me, the single most disgusting thing that happened, was having unions turning away help that had driven for days to come and help restore power. As per the agreement in emergency situations, the out of state workers would have been paid by their own employers. The unions would have preferred to have people freezing in their homes, rather than getting power up quickly.

At some point, we're going to have to gut these criminal organizations.
