Congress heads for the door, punting tough choices (http://www.star-telegram.com/2010/09/29/2505869/congress-heads-for-the-door-punting.html)
WASHINGTON -- A deeply unpopular Congress is bolting for the campaign trail without finishing its most basic job -- approving a budget for the government year that begins Friday.
Lawmakers are also postponing a major fight over taxes, two ethics cases and other political hot potatoes until angry and frustrated voters render their verdict in the Nov. 2 elections.
As Congress moved toward a messy end to a session fraught with partisan fire, President Barack Obama campaigned for Democrats in Iowa and Virginia.
With their House and Senate majorities on the line, Democratic leaders called off votes and even debates on all controversial matters.
"It would be one thing if you have a chance to pass something, then by all means have a vote," Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., said Wednesday. "But it was pretty clear that it was going to be mutually assured destruction."

Please show me ANYWHERE where I've supported the Democrats?
Well other than on another board I have stated once that I would rather vote for a Blue Dog Democrat than a Liberal Republican. But again show me ANYWHERE where I've supported Democrats?
Or are you just ASSuming?

No argument there, Terry Gilliam also turned out to be a simply brilliant Director.
Anyway, bit of trivia which you probably already know. The Python scripting was named after Money Python, not the snake

MP is mandatory comedy. If you haven't watched "Holy Grail" a few hundred times, then we really can't talk comedy.
I didn't know that!

Never saw it --- but as for comedy..... Can't stand the cast members, or the awful third-rate ripoffs they do from Peter Sellers and the rest of
The Goon Show. Just about anything from the 1950s there beats it.

Well Monty Python credits the Goons as their primary influence. Python did on TV what the Goons did on radio.

Meh ... your opinion
Python is classic and widely considered to be comic geniuses, which many of us out there agree.
Just like the Stooges, WC Fields, Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Jerry Lewis, Red Skelton, . These are the masters and are also considered to be comic geniuses, which I also agree.
But hey, we all got our different tastes and opinions. Me, Woody Allen is considered to be a genius and frankly I can't stand him.

That's how I saw it as well, and I too was toasted.
I was so toasted that when the end came, I thought I had fallen asleep because the paddy wagon was so out of context.
I had to see it a second time, only to find out I was just too high the first time to watch it. :-[

Holy Christ . . . a guy who was too stoned to get Monty Python?
I've known people who didn't get it because maybe they weren't stoned enough,
but a guy who was actually too stoned for Monty Python? I feel like I should report this.
Does anyone know who's running this place? I've got a report to make.
Silly little girl, I got it, I just didn't catch the scene change at the very end.
If you look in the right hand lower corner of the post, you will see a report to moderator, I'll be sure and forward it to God, seeing how he is the only one that cares what you have to say.
You silly little girl. :P ;D

Wouldn't know. I was sober when I saw the few clips I already have, from that troupe.
Don't care for
Benny Hill, either, and that dreadful
Are You Being Served was possibly the worst export the Brits ever foisted on us. In contrast, the BBC Radio series such as the Goons,
Hancock's Half-Hour, and
The Navy Lark all had truly funny material.
Gilliam's
Time Bandits was so much better than the Python crowd. Haven't seen
Brazil yet, but have read many good things about it.

It originally meant someone with excessive nationalistic flavor.
As for the "real" Chauvin the term sprang from, it seems he never existed....

....Having
nothing to do with picking on Toy, mind you, but I just thought I'd throw this in....
