I talked to a friend this morning who didn't quite get, at first, that a delegate that leaves Trump and goes to Cruz is pretty much a 2-1.  A lot of people have their sports-total hats on and not their accounting hats.  For example, for number's sake, say Cruz has 500 delegates and Trump has 700.  If 100 leave Trump to Cruz, that doesn't mean it's now 600 Cruz to 700 Trump -- it means 600 Cruz and 600 Trump -- a tie.  Trump LOSES that delegate, decrementing his total, and Cruz GAINS that delegate, incrementing his total.

It's simple, but it occurred to me after talking to him that not everyone's brains are wired to think about it like that.
