Title: OT) Mt Lion killed one teen and injured another near my property
Post by: Solar on March 23, 2024, 05:04:21 PM
I'll give updates as news comes in. This is the first killing of a human in ElDorado County in 30 years, when a woman jogging in the forest with a headset while menstruating. Bait.

The video of the lion Toy posted the other day is the same one, the attack happened just North of my property across the creek atop the mountain, about a quarter mile away.

New families are moving into the area, many haven't a clue as to what lurks in the forest. I doubt the kids were armed.

A mountain lion attacked two people in El Dorado County on Saturday, killing one and injuring another.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office said the attack happened around 1:13 p.m. in a remote area near Georgetown.

The person that survived the attack was taken to a nearby hospital to treat his injuries, the sheriff's office said.

This is a developing story. Stay with KCRA 3 for the latest.

Update: They were brothers, 18 and 21, the 21 year old had been bitten in the throat and the lion was sitting on him holding his neck according to the brother.
The 18 year old had been bitten in the face, but will be OK, if that's even possible after losing your brother.

Oh man.

My neighbor raises hunting dogs. One was in heat and the coyote's jumped a 8 ft fence to get her.

Tucson parks have been warning about a variety of wild animals and their diseases'.

Seeing more of this.

This is earth view of the approx. area it happened, I'll know the exact location tomorrow.
The mountains are steep, and the canyons are even worse to traverse. Doesn't look like it from the air, but it's rugged walking, and forget running...

I pray for your neighbors and you and Toy. That's a whole lot of big dangerous animals your camera picks up. As more people move in, those animals learn pets are a whole lot easier to catch for their next meal and quickly lose their fear of man.

Thanks, it's part of the beauty of the land.
Sadly, 99% of these attacks were avoidable, or in the least, preventable.
Toy takes the dogs with her on the property, as well as bear spray and an air horn.

Like wearing a seat belt, eventually you'll need it. I've had my encounters, but because of dogs, we've always outnumbered the predator.
I wouldn't trade this lifestyle for anything.
