Title: Opinions on Justin Amash
Post by: Coolidge23 on February 22, 2016, 10:10:07 AM
One of the young politicians on the GOP that has caught my attention has been Justin Amash.  He's one of the US House members from Michigan.  Although I haven't followed him as closely as I probably should, from what I've seen he's been a fairly steadfast conservative/libertarian.

Anyone more familiar with him?  What's your take on him?

He's a bit suspect after announcing his support for Rep. Paul Ryan as Speaker.

I did not know he did that.

The support by Amash and a majority of the Freedom Caucus appears to pave the way for Ryan's election because those caucus members initially were the most resistant to his proposed candidacy.

As the perfect conservative hasn't been born yet and his parents are dead, I will have to believe that in spite of his warts, Amash is still a pretty fair conservative/libertarian.

I guess it's possible the guy was fooled by Ryan.

But, given he's a member of the House, and seeing things from the other side of the fence behind closed doors.

I bet he knew full well all about Rino Ryan when he did that.

The majority of the conservative caucus backed Ryan. I think they saw someone who would not stab them in the back like Boehner was doing.

Maybe they figured it was the best they could do.

Ryan would not have been on my list for speaker and I don't trust him but from what I have read about Amash he seems to be better than 90% of the other in Congress.

The only national politician that I have whole heartedly supported and still have so much admiration for to this day was Ron Paul.  The man was/is a rock when it comes to his principles.  You can even watch youtube videos of him from the 80's when he was saying the same exact thing he says to this day.

You have to admit, Dad had one or two faults at worst, but his son?
I honestly don't know who was advising Rand's campaign, but I'd swear McConnel was paying them off and making certain Rand said all the wrong stuff. Hell, seemed to spike his daily protein shake with pissed off pills.
I had high hopes for the guy, I really did, I thought he would be the guy to bring down the Establishment.
Shit...Was I wrong.

He disappointed me too.  In this case the apple fell too far from the tree.
