Title: Obama bans pork in federal prisons
Post by: kroz on October 11, 2015, 01:16:32 PM
The nation's pork producers are in an uproar after the federal government abruptly removed bacon, pork chops, pork links, ham and all other pig products from the national menu for 206,000 federal inmates.

The ban started with the new fiscal year last week.

The Bureau of Prisons, which is responsible for running 122 federal penitentiaries and feeding their inmates three meals a day, said the decision was based on a survey of prisoners' food preferences:

They just don't like the taste of pork.

I suspect this has more to do with Obama, Islam and halal. Than it does what the prisoners like.

Obama really loves to push the envelope!  Next he will ban pork in the military!

All of this will change when he leaves office.

I don't know if he does or not, but someone on this forum said he does.  I don't think Obama's menu is public knowledge, therefore it would be difficult for someone who doesn't dine with him or cook for him to know.  However, since Muslims don't eat pork, I would assume Obama doesn't.

I'm sure he didn't eat it as a kid in Indonesia.  And he probably grew up thinking it was bad and probably never developed a taste for it.

Pork is not readily available in muslim countries.  As a matter of fact it is not available at all in some muslim countries.

We were only able to get it in Saudi through a special "pork room" that our Company made available.  We had to sign for it.  You would be surprised at how many food products contain pork products.... even some Brownie mixes.

I once smuggled a ten pound ham into Pakistan!  That is a long story.....  :tounge:

Yes, they do eat dog in Indonesia.  Arabs won't eat dogs because they are considered unclean.

The purpose of prison is NOT to dictate dietary requirements to your captors.

There is only one dog breed indigenous to Saudi Arabia.  That is the Saluki.  I never knew an Arab that owned a Saluki.  They were mostly owned by foreigners living in Saudi.

The Saluki seem to instinctively know that the arabs are not their friends.  They stay away from each other.

One page of a list of Mrs. B.S./B.O.'s demands
got left behind in a hotel room where she once stayed.
It included a bold face requirement: NO PORK !!!
And no food prepared in any facility where pork is processed!

IHMO ....
B.O. does stuff like this to divide and distract the public from what he's really trying to do.  We can waste a lot of time and energy on these "throw away issues", while he doubles-down on his agenda.  These things will all be overturned with the next commander-in-chief.   But, even then, he will go to great lengths to deride the next administration for it's insensitivity and wasting time on trivial junk, when the real issues are being ignored.   He's not going to go away with the next presidency, nope, I think he's just loading up the plate for the long-haul.

I agree with you about Obama's role as former president. He will be like a spoiled child who has had his toys taken away. He will be out there continuously whining about the new president dismantling his Marxist programs and EO's.

Got a link to that?

You should google "White House" menus.  They serve pork and pork products all of the time.  The Obama's have ham on a regular basis at their holiday dinners.

Here's another example,
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/256685-obama-those-taking-religion-seriously-are-often-suspicious-of-others
"How do you reconcile the idea of faith being really important to you and you caring a lot about taking faith seriously with the fact that, at least in our democracy and our civic discourse, it seems as if folks who take religion the most seriously sometimes are also those who are suspicious of those not like them?"

He's not trying to unite people, it's the same old divide and/or distract - as he continues to slip his agenda items through.
It is quite normal to be suspicious of people not like us - duh!  Does Sharia Law come to mind?  Sorry, I'm not going to feel guilty because I'm an American, and Sharia Law has no place in our freedom.

Obama said that America's greatness stems from a sense of "nagging dissatisfaction" that spurred settlers to move West, helped astronauts land on the moon and inspired the creation of the Internet.

But he said Americans often take those achievements for granted, a mindset that fuels deep skepticism of government.

Is he speaking off-the-cuff, teleprompter-free, or did someone actually write this nonsense?   "nagging dissatisfaction"?  Who comes up with this stuff?   People moved WEST because they wanted to OWN a piece of property, and better themselves (without the government).  The Space-Race had more to do with the humiliation & fear brought on by Sputnik; and the public "Internet" as we know it, is an off-shoot of Dialup BBS, the desire for real-time communications ... like THIS forum.   Never mind reality, the BLM is the biggest land holder, NASA's purpose is race/religion relations, and free speech on the internet is under assault.

The president added that it's natural to be suspicious of government "as a tool of oppression" but "it can also be paralyzing when we're trying to do big things together."

Hmmmm....  he didn't really answer his .... 'suspicious of government "as a tool of oppression"' ....   (calling Alex Jones & Glen Beck!...LOL)  B.O. is ... "trying to big things..."  OMG!

B.O. is really good at this division & distraction stuff.   If the news media was really doing it's job, I think they'd be calling him less charitable things than an empty suit with an empty head.   Maybe it was too much Choom.   Take away the progressive speech writers, liberal think tanks ... he's sounding like a drunk (or high) college professor who knows he has a captive audience.

He seems to treat the media like the empty headed suckers they are.

Excuse me, but Obama's doing this, IS important. It is not, as some would have us believe merely "distraction and misdirection".

It is in fact an attack upon the first Amendment rights of many, millions of Americans. It's a very serious matter when a President attempts to indoctrinate, and force a false religion's strictures upon Americans. Even though, yes they might be criminals. Many may be the lowest of the low at that. But that doesn't make it ok for a President/ the Government to come along an simply impose this or that religions precepts upon them. Particularly when the "religion" they're trying to push is anti-American and anti-Christ in every way one can imagine the two.

That's almost to the letter how the Nazis first started off too. Targeting prisoners, before moving on to every day citizen's whom the Nazi's had gotten a bug up their ass about and deemed "unworthy of living" that day.

Some folks, need to wake up, they really do. Obama wasn't joking when he said he intends to "fundamentally change America".

He meant it, but the only way he can do that, is by removing from the people certain of their God given, Constitutionally enumerated rights.

Like his E.O. on gun sales.

That's a power and authority, not granted him by the Constitution or any of our law for that matter.

Just as being the grand mufti in charge of islamic outreach in our Prison systems, also isn't in his job description as POTUS.

Food costs in a prison are a huge budget item.

Eliminating pork and pork products like deli meats, is sure to cause the budget to go up.  I think there are other things that Muslims refuse to eat besides Pork.

Their dietary restrictions are only pork, blood, and intoxicants.  But they have hygiene rules about the slaughter of meats.

They love rice!!  And rice is cheap.  Their meat is primarily chicken, but they eat lamb and goat.  Lamb is expensive here but not so expensive in the ME and Asia.  Goat is cheaper and more common except for special occasions... when they usually eat lamb.  You don't see much beef in muslim countries and if you do find it, it is tough and almost inedible.  That is why they don't like beef.  They never get any good beef imports.

I agree completely, even if the history doesn't fit precisely.   The tactic is well tried, a slight of hand to divide the attention of the opposition, while the plan keeps marching on.   If he gains ground on lessor issues, he wins - if he gets called on it and loses ground, it ties up the opposition, fighting over issues that are not that important to him/his cause.

Government reverses pork ban after just one week.

They are going to allow pork roast.  That is a token offering to appease critics.  It will be easy for prisoners to skip one meal of pork if the rest of the menus are pork free.
