Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has announced today that he will step down from his position as the Senate's Republican leader in November.

McConnell, 82, made the announcement in an address to the Senate. He is the longest-serving party leader in Senate history.

While he will be stepping down from his leadership position, he intends to retain his Senate seat until his term ends in January of 2027.

With Trump in the white house, I don't think the old goat turtle would have been reelected to run the senate if the republicans take it over, or be elected minority leader if they wouldn't. The old fart turtle may not be all that bright, but I bet even he could see what was coming.............  On the other hand, if the unthinkable happens to Trump, I could very well see the rino's voting for the old bastard turtle again.   Everything good happens with Trump in the white house.

I wonder just how much influence the murder of his sister in law played in his decision? :glare:

Good question. Had he announced he was leaving the senate at the end of the year, I would say it might have had a lot of influence. But he is sticking around until the end of his term. I think his decision is more influenced by the certainty of Trump being back in charge. Mitch did not do his job. I can not help but think if somehow demented Joe stays in office, Mitch will change his mind.

He has to stick around so he can see where the investigation leads.

He has to stick around because the governor of KY is a democrat and would appoint a dem for the remainder of his term. Cornyn as a possible replacement is not exactly reassuring.

  I am a devout Christian, conservative, Texan and citizen of the United States, in that order. I will vote for Beto before I will ever vote for Cornyn again. He is part of the problem not the solution. I hope Trump plays a major in who the next republican leader will be, we need to move on from picking rino's.

Couldn't agree more!

It's Sad that a Dim is preferable to a turncoat RINO. But it was these same RINO that gave the left California, Nevada, Colorado and a dozen other States across the Nation.

Not a one of these RINO give a flip about the people of the state, let alone the nation, they only care about power.
A lowly Dim is always preferable to an Establishment hack/traitor.

Sup, do you still not realize just how damaging the GOP Establishment has been to this great nation?
Cornyn is the reason so many Conservatives have been blocked out of running for the GOP, he was the Con's leftist hand man all these decades.

And that is his resume.

I would rather face known enemies than those pretending to be my friend.

Exactly!
At least you know what a Marxist Dim is up to, but with a RINO, they go to the highest bidder, be it the CCP or a chip maker, and usually the Military Industrial complex, even if the weaponry is a total failure, or one that gets our troops killed, they don't care as long as it bolsters their power/career/wallet.

These RINO have never done the work of the people, NEVER!
How is it, that after all these decades, people can't see these so called political parties are part of an illusion, where the left was taken over by Marxists and the GOP taken over by the same faction working on behalf of the left.

Granted, we still have good people trying to make change, like Jordan and Gaetz to name a couple, but those in control, like Cornyn who controls the GOP's reelection purse and see to it that only RINO scum take power in the GOP.

Please reread my post. I did not give my support to Cornyn.

I know what you said, and I did reread it, and I agree, Cornyn is "Not Reassuring", but as possum and I pointed out, a lowly Dim is still better than the enemy heading our Senate.
They always vote with the Dims.

This has been going on for decades, at what point do we admit the insanity of letting these scum reside within our party?
Repeating failure is the epitome of Insanity, we need to start drawing the line somewhere.

Just my two cents here, I wrote what I did to show how much I agreed with your statement of Cornyn. He would not be reassuring, he would be no different. But seeing how Cornyn is my senator, I see red every time I see his name. He has done nothing for Texas.

The only part that puzzles me is, Why is he resigning the chairman ship in November?  Congress (House and Senate both) officially ends on December 31.

Wild ass guess, the rino's will name a replacement. Maybe the old fart turtle thinks the newly appointed minority leader will have a edge over the competition when the next congress convenes. ?????????

Notice I did say wild ass guess, not a particularly good guess.

I'm sure it's all a coincidence.
Keep in mind it was a Tesla, fully covered with cameras, a car in constant connection with the manufacturer, so it's safe to say, Elon has all the evidence.

By the way, this guy does his own investigations, or rather his wealthy backers.
