$36,000-to-$89,999 Income Bracket: Romney 50%, Obama 46% - by Terence P. Jeffrey
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is leading President Barack Obama 50 percent to 46 percent among registered voters who earn between $36,000 and $89,999 per year, the middle-income bracket reported by Gallup in its presidential tracking poll.
These results were for the three-week period that began Sept. 24 and ended Oct. 14, and do not factor in Romney's advances in the Gallup poll over the last four days. (During the same three-week period, Obama led Romney 49 percent to 46 percent among all registered voters. However, in the most recent seven-day period in the Gallup poll (Oct. 11-17) Romney led Obama 48 percent to 47 percent among all registered voters, and 52 percent to 45 percent among likely voters.)
In the Gallup polling period that ended three weeks ago, on Sept. 23, Obama had led Romney 48 percent to 46 percent among those who earn between $36,000 and $89,999. Since then, Obama has dropped 2 points among these middle-income earners and Romney has climbed 4 points.
Among registered voters who earn $90,000 or more, Romney led Obama 50 percent to 45 in the most recent period ending Oct. 14. By contrast, Obama led Romney 58 percent to 37 percent among registered voters who earn less than $36,000 per year.

I don't know about anyone else, but it continues to shock me that the numbers are that close, and that almost half of American voters are stupid enough to think that another Obama term will be good for the country. It just frustrates the hell out of me.

I've never felt that that the numbers were actually that close. I think it's a combination of the huge refusal rate - 91% of those they contact refuse to respond - and the fact that these polls want to make it seem like a horse race because it generates interest (and dollars). Anyone with eyes, would have noticed, months ago; the huge, enthusiastic, crowds turning out everywhere for Romney/Ryan versus the small, somewhat lackadaisical, gatherings turning out for Obama/Biden. The idea that the country wants more of the last four years, simply defies reason.

most polls are using 2008 results as their baseline with projections out from there - since Obama won the popular vote, the electoral vote and ALL the swing states, the statistical results will be slanted in his favor, but as MD points out, this "scewing" will come home to roost very very soon
Hmmm..."$36,000-to-$89,999 Income Bracket."
Wow!! I am Middle Income now LOL
Thank God for investments!

Realistically this should be a landslide for Romney, but the problem is a lot of people remain uninformed and hence easily swayed by negative ads or union influence etc. It's also not helping that the MSM is in bed with Obama. I personally know people who are still stuck on blaming Bush for all the mess. It boggles my mind

I agree on all points - mu guess is something on the order of 55 to 45 for Romney
I think the give away on just how much BS these polls and commentators are is how they keep referring to Wisconsin as a "toss up". For some reason we are supposed to believe Wisconsin - where REPUBLICAN governor Scott Walker and the REPUBLICAN Party has just fought off three challenges from Democrats; oh, and which is also - incidentally - PAUL RYAN'S HOME STATE is somehow suppose to find "renewed love" for Obama. Say what! Why?
