The October Jobs Report, which many believe will correct a fudged September drop in unemployment, was due out this coming Friday...just before the election.  Now the Labor Department is hinting at a delay caused by the Frankenstorm....

In the words of the Church Lady, "Isn't that convenient ... :cursing:

QuoteThe Labor Department said Monday that it has yet to make a decision on whether to delay Friday's closely-watched October employment report due to the effects from Hurricane Sandy.

Federal government offices in Washington are closed Monday and may be shut again Tuesday due to the storm. It isn't clear if the closure would cause a delay in processing the data.

"We will assess the situation when the weather emergency is over and notify the press and public of any changes at that time," said Gary Steinberg, spokesman for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the data arm of the department.

The Labor Department is also scheduled to release its third quarter employment cost index Wednesday, and the third quarter productivity and weekly jobless claims reports Thursday.

The most closely watched is Friday's jobs report, which will give the final measure the unemployment ahead of next week's presidential election.

In September, the rate fell to 7.8%, the lowest level since President Barack Obama took office in January 2009. Meanwhile, the economy added 114,000 that month.

Skeptic

They will probably wait until after the election because they know they can't massage the numbers like that again and get away with it.
Skepticism, like chastity, should not be relinquished too readily.

From the help wanted sign I see out there.   I have to believe some people just don't want work, when they can sit home and get a check.

This morning on a campaign conference call, Obama chief strategist David Axelrod pre-spun the release of the upcoming Friday jobs report. According to some reports, Axelrod predicted the numbers would not give Romney a boost. There was also a prediction released by a major pollster today that predicted a bad jobs report could be a game-changer and tip the race to Romney decisively. And then what happens...? Well, lo and behold, the U.S. Labor Department released a statement stating the hurricane might delay the release of the jobs report.

This bunch cannot keep deadlines, can't tell the truth about anything, can't enforce age old laws, can't protect their own people, can't provide jobs, can't keep or make
believable budgets, can't abide by the laws of the land.  Is there anything they can't mess up?  Let's all make sure that there won't be any more of this crap come Nov. 6th, 2012.  With all their failures, who's stupid enough to put them back in there for yet another 4 years of the same?

I think most thinking people knows with out the U.S. Labor Department released a statement.  Is there someone out there that don't know someone looking for work.  Mom, Dad, Brother or Sister, even the kid know.   When was the last time they did not change the numbers.

What a bunch of hogwash!!!  :cursing:
I knew they were going to do something about releasing the REAL unemployment figure. Not that the 8.1% number was accurate to begin with given so many was dropped out of the labor participation rate.

Nov 6th could not come soon enough!!!

What fool decided if your not getting a unemployment check.  You are not looking for work.

you can bet that if when Mitt is elected, those numbers will become important again, now you'll find them under the rug.
