Jeb Bush has a fantastically awful idea when it comes to college education.

He thinks community college students should get "free" tuition for two years. If that's sounds familiar, it's because it's the exact same thing President Barack Obama proposed in January. Which shows how completely hypocritical Bush is because he came out against Obama's plan in January. Oh, but Bush's plan gets even more #headdesk inducing. He wants universities to PAY BACK students who don't graduate in four years.

If kids can't graduate with a four-year degree in four years, there ought to be some payback to their families or to them, or their got to be some support for the loans they've taken out.

Besides that the pressure on professors to pass failing students will destroy the value of the diploma!

Free Marxist indoctrination?  What a deal!!!
Free for the students maybe, but the rest of us have to pay for it in a variety of ways.

Hopefully this will end JEB's ambitious run for the WH. He's no better than Sanders or Clinton. Maybe he should switch parties and run as a `RAT.

Meanwhile, while Democrats villify almost anything that generates a profit, they give university a pass on being the one industry that has had a steady uninterrupted climb in tuition costs since the Progressive Era. Year after year, college tuition gradually rises as if it too were subject to federal budget mechanics that build in automatic 5-10% anual funding increases, and with federal monopoly on grants and loans, there is no reason or incentive for university to ever freeze or, God forbid, lower their tuition, because government will insure the kids get the money they need to pursue degrees they might not need, or be able to use. Naturally the misguided youth have no idea why their ivy league degrees cost a $100,000.00, and fall back on the age old childish/liberal demand that it should just be free.
On a side note, I find it both endlessly funny and irritating that while most on the left deny the concept of natural rights, they are very quick to claim natural entitlement.

Yep, and for evidence of this failure, just look at the WH.

You can caulk this up to the Trump factor! Trump, in interviews, is getting specific on some of his proposals and is forcing Jeb to do the same! The more Jeb opens his mouth the more he damages his standing with the base!
I saw Crusty of FOX this morning talking his emigration stance! He sounded down right tough! Same thing, they are being forced to talk on things they don't want to!

Typical liberal think-tank mentality.

Now for some reality that affects the majority of students.

What if they are working part time or change their major or change schools, causing their four years to turn into five or six?  What if they don't bother to show up for classes/lectures/labs/tests or drop out and have to take courses over?

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

WTF? Pay them back for what? Lounging around in their underwear in mommy and daddy's basement playing wow all day long? Seriously it's not the schools fault the little sob's didn't do the schoolwork required to graduate. Now to be honest, I don't think Jeb has the brains to come up with an idea this stupid. He should fire the aid who did.

With 1.2 trillion dollars in student loan debt, and 17% in default no less, I think its time todays kids let go the myth of college being the only road to success.
Fact is two-thirds of the American economy is driven by high school educated tradesmen, and entrepreneurs. Ive seen 18 year old kids come out of high school and either work for their dad and learn a trade from him, or maybe go to a tech school for a couple of years. While some of their buddies are blowing mom and dads money on keggers and bitching about being broke, the apprentice/journeyman is earning a pretty good living, and when their friends maybe get that degree and then have to figure how to turn it into a job, the tradesman is becoming a contractor in his own right already secure in a career. The universal solution to almost all problems is still, "Get a job!".

Why not?  Pay Americans to be failures so that we can increase H-1b visa's.  How about giving them a good education for their money.   If the Universities cannot educate people adequate enough to be desired by top U.S. Companies stop University welfare by the American taxpayer.  Cannot understand it at all.  The money that government pumps into American universities and then says American corporations can't find educated people to fill the jobs?

This is yet another promise of pork to the academic (not intellectual!) community,
to further entice them into brainwashing students into supporting the promisor of pork.

And with the advent of the internet,
shouldn't the price of education be plummeting, instead of soaring?

Nope. As long as Uncle Sam is there to loan or grant anyone and everyone the money to go to college, there is absolutely no reason why universities should do anything but continue to raise their tuition from year to year.
Heres a fun fact. In all levels of education from K-PhD, 70% of the money is burnt on administration and salaries. Cant call teachers greedy though, noble profession and all.
