What are we to do? Changing parties may make you feel better initially but a THIRD Party just will never get the votes thanks to Ross Perot and is waste of a vote and will only give more power to the SPEND it all nutjobs.
What is the answer? I am very disappointed right now.

Except for a few exceptions the Republican fiscal conservative is myth.  This vote proved that they are not willing to follow their conscience.  I do not know how you can get a third party that would be strong enough to make an impact but the GOP might fight gun bans and argue about how wrong abortion is and gay marriage should be stopped but except for the gun issue the others really should be outside of the fed govt domain and yet the GOP of big govt keeps them as big issues.   

There were a few voices in the wilderness but too few to fight the onslaught of the utter nonsense  that I heard over and over coming out of the mouths of Dems as they explained why they support this bill.  Yep a lot of it had to do with Bush.  Their arguments were absolutely ridiculous, yet the GOP for the most part never raised a comment to argue these idiotic reasons why this tax increase is going to be so great.   

For the next 2 years if we get that far this country is going to be in a mess. No hope and no chance that the GOP will do a think to even slow our slide.

The best thing I can come up with............is that I think it's time to label conservatives as a true minority. That would include protected status. Any speech against conservatives would be considered to be hate speech, and would be a punishable offense; including from the news outlets and the president himself.

If they say that conservatives are racists, bigots, homophobes, teabaggers, or any other derogatory term; they pay a fine or go to jail.

I'm not kidding either. The left loves their minority groups, and writing laws to protect them. Lets see how they act when conservatives make the list.

It was all drama.  Why did they drag their feet?  They knew how they were going to vote and if they actually put any thought behind Obama's "promise" to cut spending, well-we all know how he does on this.  He'll just shake that ole' bony finger at everyone and tell us that he's just going to do this and that and he's just not going to do this or that (if any of it is suggestions from the GOP).  This is his position on any issue where so called compromise is concerned even though he insists that he's always ready to come together with the Gop to help move the country foward.  Lies, all lies.  How ready is he to deliver those so-called spending cuts?  A little insight here, he said what he had to say and took right off to Hawaii.  Help me keep this straight now, that's vacation #1 of 2013.  This globetrotting first family can't stay at the WH long enough to conduct any meaningful business.

Midterms?  We'd better get busy on writing our reps then.  We have a pretty good voice here where I live.  One of our many little cities in and around where i live, Boiling Springs, SC, puts out a weekly reader.  There's a man that is fully conservative and is one of the staff writers and he really gives great articles on the situation we are faced with.  That's a good way to get circulation going because these weekly papers are everywhere I go, not just to Boiling Springs.  There's another paper from a close town 9 miles from me, also a conservative one.  These writers encourage feedback or suggestions for future articles.  I fully intend to voice my concerns to them, the more the merrier.  The NYC based local Sptbg. paper does nothing but mimic the views and agenda of the Dems, as does the local tv stations.

85 Republicans voted for the fiscal-cliff bill and 151 voted no. There were 172 Democratic yes votes, and 16 Democrats voted no.

At the midterm election during Obama's first term there was supposed to be a big change and the country would be pushed back onto the right track.  Well that did not happen so how is it that you are going to find much enthusiasm to do the same thing this time.  I think all those who voted for this bill should be removed from the Republican party.   I still think the party is done after this fiasco.  They had no strategy and no plan as to what they had to do.  So glad I am not a republican because I would be totally embarrassed and ashamed to be associated in any way to what just happened.

No, the leadership failed the people, but their time is running out, Boehnor will be unseated, especially after this debacle.
In Ca we have a closed primary, so if you want a voice as to who enters the Pub base, you have to register as a pub.
I just sent my Congressman a letter early this morning informing him I will be abandoning the GOP after the midterm elections if Conservatives aren't in control afterwards.

I've been worried for a while that the loose tea party coalition wouldn't gain enough strength and traction to succeed.  We may be at that point.

The whole issue is core values and conscience vs. selfish motives, and the tea party movement may simply not be strong enough to win that battle.   There are a few reps voting their values and conscience over greed, but not nearly enough.

Rather than start another party or movement from scratch, we may be limited to throwing in with the libertarians.  I realize that true conservatism has many conflicts with true libertarianism, but it may the only viable path.

The Pauls would give a built-in base for candidates / personalities (a lot of young people like them, strangely enough), and thre's some decent media base in guys like Stossel and Dobbs.

It's all that's left, I'm afraid.  I'd rather accept some oddities like their drug legalization and laisseh-faire foreign policy, than continue down the road to RINO-fueled socialism.
