Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich are in a dead heat as the top choices for Iowans likely to attend the Jan. 3 Republican presidential caucuses.

A Bloomberg News poll shows Cain at 20 percent, Paul at 19 percent, Romney at 18 percent and Gingrich at 17 percent among the likely attendees with the caucuses that start the nominating contests seven weeks away.

Economic issues such as jobs, taxes and government spending are driving voter sentiment, rather than such social issues as abortion and gay marriage, the poll finds. Only about a quarter of likely caucus-goers say social or constitutional issues are more important to them, compared with 71 percent who say fiscal concerns.

The poll reflects the race's fluidity, with 60 percent of respondents saying they still could be persuaded to back someone other than their top choice, and 10 percent undecided. Paul's support is more solidified than his rivals, while Cain's is softer. All of the major contenders have issue challenges to address.

The far right of the GOP need to get off their phony self righteous play on character(remember you all were calling for the impeachment of Clinton, when Gingrich was doing the same thing, left a wife on her death bed with cancer to run off with another, then began having an affair with a 22yr old page while with the one he left the 1st wife for. Now he is married to the page with $500,000 Tiffany bills(??????). Lets get real folks this guy is going nowhere, wait till the Dem's put the heat on him.He never had a chance to start with.

He didn't leave his wife on her death bed. She is alive and doing quite well. Besides she is the one who requested the divorce in the first place. She was never dying from cancer, she was in the hospital and recovering from an operation because of bladder cancer. Clinton lied to the grand jury, something you or I would be in jail for. This is how the left loves to play politics. It's like saying he believes in radical environmentalism. Just what is insane about wanting limited constitutional government? I'm not a big Newt  supporter, or even a tea party member, but they both have positions that anyone with just a little common sense would support. Newt will never get the support of the GOP, they want a puppet like the Obama lite Mit they can manipulate. Mit's policies just about mirror Obama's. Just not as radical. How is the Tea Party like the John Bircher's?

The GOOD NEWS is Iowans see Ron Paul for what he really is
Ron Paul, while placing fourth overall, is also the candidate Iowa voters least want to see win the nomination. Eighteen percent (18%) hold name Paul as the least favorite candidate followed closely by Bachmann at 15%. Thirteen percent (13%) don't want to see Romney or Huntsman grab the nomination, while 11% would like to see Cain miss the nod. Only eight percent (8%) name Gingrich as the candidate they least want to see win.

Well, a couple of "pints" would get me talking.

Seriously, whomever wins will carry the middle.  I doubt Perry or Gingrich can carry enough of the middle to beat Obama.  Romney is simply Obama-lite.  Can he carry enough of the middle?  I think he can.  None of the left will stay home at election time regardless of how they feel Obama has done.  The problem with Romney?  Some of the right will stay home.  However, I think he is the only one that will carry the middle and take away enough votes to beat Obama.  That is my view.  I'm not crazy about any of the candidates but if I have my druthers, I like Ron Paul.  He won't win though.  All have flaws but I'm afraid for now on, that's all we are going to get anymore. 

If Perry is able to continue improving his debating skills. it seems to me he is the best man for
the job.  He has proven himself fiscally and with job creation for 10 years in Texas.  I have spent months researching him on the web, but Perry's book is what sold me on the man.  His plan for the oil busines, taxes, and a government overall were compatible with his book.  His Oil Plan should jump start the economy quickly.  Gov Kasich's law elimiating Collective Bargaining for Public Employee Unions was overthrown. Gov. Romney failed support Gov Kasich.  Mitt Romney took the side of the Unions when he visited Ohio.  He proceeded to change his mind the following day.   Will President Romney have the courage of his convictions under pressure in the office of the Presidency.  He has had years of changing his positions on major issues since Massachusetts.  I cannot see Cain or Gingrich in the office.  Why would any thoughtful person turn down Gov. Perry when he has already done the job in Texas, the 13teenth largest economy in the world.

My only issue with Perry is that he is just another RINO.

If strong Republicans can find and understand this info then the guy doesn't stand a chance as a candidate when the Dem's get hold of it.
