A whole 5.2% in a deep red district where she should have trounced him.

Im delighted. Won by  4.2% more than trump did  in 2016 even though the coverage of him has been the most negative  in history. Dems 0-6 now. One thing that seems to be going  unnoticed tonight. This race wasnt a toss-up as many predicted yet the SC race was closer than expected. Perhaps all the attention this race attracted motivated reps to vote.

I think its a  huge victory when you see that. Handel was out spent 21,000,000 to 3,000,000. Nice to see so much of hollywoods money down the drain.

Just feeling the joy....

I can imagine, the moment they go on break, cursing can be heard for at least a city block.

They should be high-fiving.  Think how we would have reacted if a conservative barely lost in San Fran or something.  I don't think people really get how red Cobb County alone is.

Here's a good breakdown of GA-6.

Exactly how red Georgia 6 is matters, both for forecasting who will win and for interpreting what the results of the special election mean. Yes, Trump barely squeaked by Hillary Clinton there, but most other Republican candidates — presidential and House — have done much better. Tom Price, who represented the district in Congress until he resigned to become Trump's secretary of health and human services, carried it by 23 percentage points in 2016. Mitt Romney beat Barack Obama there by the same margin in 2012. We know from past House elections that our best bet for measuring the political lean of a district is a weighted average2 of the last two presidential elections, with the most recent election weighted a bit more. By this weighted average, Georgia 6 is about 9.5 percentage points more Republican than the nation as a whole. (That is, if there were a tie in the national popular vote, a Republican would be expected to win Georgia 6 by 9.5 points.)

Why would that spending matter in GA-6?

Because money always matters, especially a  7-1 advantage helping Ossoff portary himself as a conservative democrat. Big win tonight.

Wrong.  GA-6th is deep red.  All those ads did was annoy the district.  The question I have (as I'm gathering the data coming in) is if there was such a huge turnout in a very red district, then why did she only win by ~5%?  Why not the 20%+ that is typical in a red district that has been red for 40 years?

Lets finish that post, shall we?

Ossoff raised more than $23 million at of May 31, while Handel raised $4.5 million. But she enjoyed heavy backing from outside groups. Those independent committees spent about $18 million on her campaign, while outside groups spent about $7.6 million for Ossoff, according the the New York Times.

I don't know much about the republican so I won't comment on her being a RINO, This is a disaster for the democrats. They made it a national election, they spent 31 million dollars. They made it a referendum on Trump. They lost. This Jon Ossoff is the best the democrats have to offer? This smug Obama wannabe who doesn't even live in his district?

Living in that district, Grouchy Old Cripple had this to say (red added)....

Osshole loses. $25 million down the drain. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Now he does not have to marry his girlfriend of twelve years or move into the 6th Congressional District. He can fade back into obscurity. The Dims are now 0-7 in special elections since Trump won. This was gonna be the one they would win. This was gonna be the template on how they could flip red districts and take over the House. Too bad for them. Good for us. Now they have to head back to the drawing board and figger out how to win the House. I know. Go further to the left. That will work. Go even more bat shit crazy. Stage more riots. Stage more assassination porn.

One thing that did help was the heavy rains in the southern part of the 6th where all of the parasites live.

I believe there are some 22 GOP seats the Donks need to flip if they want to take the House of Reprehensibles. Now they are $25 million poorer for potential donations, and at 7-0 are definitely resembling a farm team instead of major league.

Some here have labeled the winner as a RINO. She ain't a full-blown rat bastard commie, here, so take the win and hope for the best, eh?

Another example of false or totally incompetent polling. Handel wins by 5%-6% and all the polls showed Ossof up until the polls opened.
