What would you have done?  Be honest!

(snip)

George W. Bush has claimed that information extracted from terrorist suspects by "waterboarding" saved British lives by preventing attacks on Heathrow and Canary Wharf.

In an exclusive interview with The Times, the former US President offered a vigorous defence of the coercive interrogation technique: "Three people were waterboarded and I believe that decision saved lives." He denied that waterboarding, which simulates drowning, amounted to torture.

Asked if he authorised the use of waterboarding to get information from the captured al-Qaeda leader Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, he was unequivocal: "Damn right!"

In his new book he writes: "Their interrogations helped break up plots to attack American diplomatic facilities abroad, Heathrow airport and Canary Wharf in London, and multiple targets in the United States."

I am sure that Bush knew this was his political "Jump the Shark" Decision!  But, he said what he meant and he meant what he said, when he said we would use all means available to us to go after those who attacked us on 911 (these were the one's who were waterboarded THREE TERRORISTS).  Considering that all our Special Forces go through waterboarding as part of their training, this did not and does not constitute torture by any legal standard because this enhansed interrogation technique does not cause any severe injury!  Libs (and even some squimish conservatives) refuse to look at the applicable statutes and instead give their opinion of what the laws ought to say, not what they did then (and still do, inspite of all the rhetoric)

I believe that Bush felt if he were putting men and women in harm's way, to fight the Terrorists, that he was willing to put his political future in harm's way to save our people and as it turns out,, to save the lives of our allies, as well!  I'm sure this latest revelation will shed a good deal of light on why a LIBERAL Prime Minister, Tony Blair, would join together with the Cowboy, George Bush, if fighting the Terrorists and even invading Iraq!

It's great to see G.W. get back into the spotlight, without the burden of being President, and speak his mind.

He virtually disappeared until recently.  Now, with his book and the interviews he is doing, we are all getting to see the REAL George W. Bush, unfiltered, un-PC, and no longer under the microscope.

It's GREAT STUFF!  I have more respect for him now, than I ever had for him before.

This could easily be one of the books I download when I get my Kindle working.   I like reading these books that go behind the scenes so to speak... 8) 8)

As I said many times, waterboarding is not that effective....drugging and isolation cells are much better long term. ;)   you can bet the Brits drug the hell out of terror suspects.. :D

I would try using cigar cutters on the fingers, and if that didn't work I would go with dunking the "putter and golf balls" in a bucket of Drano.

Bush let 'em off EASY.

I agree wholeheartedly about Bush and Blair. George Walker Bush could be trusted. There are a whole lot WORSE things to say about a liberal than to say Blair too is an honest man.
