Nah, he was a hard core Lib early on, then turned LIBertarian and in his last few years started seeing the truth for what is is, and made a hard Right turn.

Well, gee, if you say so, but as a long time Carlin fan, one tends to see change in ones perspective, and in Carlin's case, he was moving away form brain dead lib/anarchist to the Right.
You know, where Conservatives tread, that Right.

Always liked his shows, really had a way with words.  Realistic and very funny.  He will be missed.  I have a video of him in a made for tv western.  He starred with James Garner in the movie, Streets of Laredo.  This was one of a series of western movies that featured texas rangers Cap'n Woodrow Call (Garner in this one) and Cap'n Augustus McRae (Duvall) and the series was Lonesome Dove.  Carlin Played the love interest in Laredo with a Mexican woman.  He was a drunk but very much in love with the lady who was the mother of a killer that Garner was after-dead or alive.
