The puppeteer who performs as Elmo on "Sesame Street" is taking a leave of absence from the popular kids' show in the wake of allegations that he had a relationship with a 16-year-old boy.

"I had a relationship with (the accuser)," Clash told TMZ. "It was between two consenting adults and I am deeply saddened that he is trying to make it into something it was not."

I watched part of a special about this guy not to long ago.  He is very talented but should he be around kids?  I guess we will find out more as the story unfolds but if the boy was 16 that is not a consenting adult.  Toy

He is a black, liberal, homosexual! This story will be buried faster than one of Larry the Cable Guys' movies goes to DVD!

The story is over because the occuder owned up that he was "NOT" underage when their homo sexual encounter accured, he was making the story up.

So the libs beat everyone to it. Now Elmo can go on tickling the kids everywhere.

Yeah, and the new head of the NY Times was involved in suppressing the BBC/Jimmy Savile child abuse scandal in the UK. I guess it only matters if you can beat the Catholic Church or the Boy Scouts over the head with it.

Just for the heck of it, I looked this up.............wow. I'm assuming that the same ages would now apply to homosexual sex.

Regardless, what in the Hell is a 50 year old man doing with an supposed 18 yro in the first place, and why did they settle on a fixed figure settlement if the allegations weren't true?

Yeah, this story will die, the leftists in Hollywood will circle the wagons and the story will fade away.

Simple. If it costs you $1,000,000 in lawyer fees to fight it, and $100,000 for the settlement to just make it go away, you pay the settlement. Lawyers have grown fat off of that arithmetic for decades now. That and the fact that because of the "Deep Pockets" doctrine; lawyers tend to drag everyone and their brother into the suit. If PBS or the Sesame Street is adjudged to be in anyway responsible - say the lawyers for the plaintiff claim the molestation took place in his dressing room at the station, while he was getting ready for a show - they may be on the hook for any adverse judgment, in it's entirety. The "Deep Pockets" defendants will force a settlement to avoid the possibility of a judgment against them. Think of it as legalized extortion.

Make what go away? It's already in the news, why pay now?
That is, unless the kid had proof he was under age at the time, but took the money instead.

UPDATE:
Resigns....
As the announcement was made, a lawsuit was being filed in federal court in New York charging Clash with sexual abuse of a second youth nearly two decades ago. The lawsuit alleges that Cecil Singleton, then 15 and now an adult, was persuaded by Clash to meet for sexual encounters.

Published reports said the alleged incident happened in 1993.

Last week, Sesame Workshop announced that Clash was taking a leave of absence from the popular kids' show following allegations that he had a relationship with a 16-year-old boy.
