Does anyone take his candidacy seriously?
I mean, does he have a shot? So far, to be honest, the only one out there I've seen who is it seems, espousing a truly Republican Platform.

He was week on the Second Amendment, if I'm not mistaken. Plus, he's a brilliant surgeon, so I'm not sure he could keep up with the pace of soundbites, etc.
Carson who?

Noooooo!!! We can't have a qualified black guy in a position of authority, that would embarrass the Dims for having elected an empty shirt.
I'd make him surgeon general, as President.....nah.....stood behind Baltimore Mayor over her stupidity because of personal friendship, has really nutty plan to incorporate Health care into Social security from birth, tenuous on 2nd, no real plan for immigration/security.
About his only good point is he dissed Obamao in public

Yeah he is against Obamaocare BUT I listened to him some tie ago when he was talking about alternatives to Obamaocare, it sounded like he wanted to start some Social Security like program AT BIRTH that you pay into regarding health care, but it is optional..... I don't like the sound of that at all. Some other idiot can come behind him and remake it into MANDATORY law of the land just like SS

TMZ published a photo Wednesday of the Republican presidential candidate staring at his breakfast plate after allegedly losing a front tooth at Tommy's Country Ham House in Greenville, South Carolina. Once the retired neurologist realized his tooth fell out, he "discretely placed the errant chomper into his shirt pocket" and got up to deliver "an impassioned speech," according to the gossip site.
Carson briefly mentioned the mishap Saturday in his speech to the South Carolina Freedom Summit. It turns out he lost not just one, but two pearly whites during his trip to the Palmetto State.
"They said [South Carolina] was a pretty rough-and-tumble place. But I lost two teeth since I've been here," Carson said to laughter from the audience. "This one went out last night, this one went out -- but I also had a chance to see two very fine dentists here in South Carolina, so it's very good."

While I think it's way too early to speculate, he is currently tied with Jeb Bush for first place on a recent FOX poll of primary Republican voters.
If he can hang in there without any mishaps, he might have a decent showing in the Primaries, but I don't see him winning it. But then again, it's way too early.

Part of his appeal is that Dr. Carson is obviously not a politician. He has devouted his energy and talents to saving the lives of babies. Most of the stuff he's asked, he gives an honest, but off the top. answer. He really hasn't studied the issues and reasoned out his positions. He's a Newbie to this business. Then again, he's highly intelligent, obviously he loves this country and believes in the capitalist, free enterprise system and that anyone can work hard and achieve the American Dream. He seems to resent the hell out of freeloaders who do not even make any attempt to get off their ass and help pull the wagon. I like that!
While Ted Cruz is a much more obvious choice because he represents so much of what we believe and is a far better politician than Ben Carson, it remains to be seen if he can survive the onslaught of the leftist media and gain the support of enoug voters that he can win. Ben Carson is brilliant and no doubt he is studying issues and working hard to develop his positions and strategies. I don't see Dr. Carson as one that would hold onto his initial thoughts out of ego or political strategy. I have no doubt that he is open to being pursuaded by the merits of thoughtful, reasoned debate/discussion and I have no doubts in his fundamental conservatism.
I support Ted Cruz but I have concerns about how much he can rally support from others who are not out there on the fringe (like me). Time will tell if he can broaden his appeal. He certainly has won the hearts and minds of the conservative base of the GOP. It would be a mistake to underestimate Ben Carson.

Is he a brilliant surgeon? From what I hear, yeah. Is he a nice Christian man? Appears to be. Is he likable? Yep. Would I like him as my neighbor? Sure.
Could he make a good POTUS? Not from what I've seen, nope.
I've listened to him speak several times, and one underlying fact always comes into play for me, the cringe factor.
When he makes claims like banning weapons in the inner city, I cringe. When he talks about taxes, I cringe, Free trade, I cringe.
I cringe, because he's speaking from a point of emotion, not intellect, he has yet to think these issues through.
This is not what True Conservatives do when approaching issues. Conservatives have a set of values we work from, an anchor which cannot move regardless of the issue.
We consider all aspects and leave emotion out of the equation, and reference the Bill of Rights as a road map.
Carson is absent the values that make one a True Conservative, and his talks prove it.
If someone questions you on your values, you don't waiver, that's just the way it is.
But when Carson talks, it's obvious he is not answering from life long held values based on American Liberty.
Such as his Second Amendment suspension of the inner city. That came from an emotional response.
I'll say it again, he hasn't a snowflakes chance in Hell.

I meant does he have a chance in the general. IF not, while I do think he's probably a really nice person, we shouldn't give him the nod if he can't beat the dimwit challenger.
I like Dr. Carson but as far as him having good chance to win the nomination? I have to say no I don't think it will play out
that way.

I believe he could beat Hillary as well. However, I think we can do much better with a true conservative who is not such a nice guy.

Hey don't forget me! I'm running to ya's know. I want to be the first, internet driven, write in candidate to win the presidency.
Of course the fact that I could only be "wrote in" in the STate of Ohio, might make a difference in the outcome to that though.
Ok I'm joking, but seriously there's anyone of a number of posters here, I'd rather see in the WH than ANY of the current crop.
