Ask the victims of Jeffery Dahmer if their negotiating was fruitful.
Does anyone else see this as coming from a point of weakness? God knows it's why I hate liberals, they never use commonsense, Iran said it will not negotiate, so what do you think we have to do to get them to give up on the nuclear ambitions, seriously, what could we do to change their minds?
I guarantee you, you won't like the outcome.

Just a stalling tactic that benefits Iran.

Exactly, act like you might do something, while you really do nothing.  According to what Joe said in the veep debate, Iran is nothing to worry about anyway.

The best way to engage in "direct talks" with Iran is to get the Enola Gay out of mothballs.

For them that do not know what Enola Gay is.

Enola Gay is a Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber, named for Enola Gay Tibbets, mother of the pilot.

You're joking right, you were never taught this in school? Are you still in school?

No, I was not taught that in school, and no.  I am in my mid thirties, and history is a subject I always did well in.  I assumed from the post it was some type of weapon, I would have been wrong.

Highschool history classes, even then, focused on the basics. What war happened when, with whom.  Who was in power when.  We spent whole days talking about the meaning of political cartoons.  I would be lying if I said that my public school education had nothing to do with my choice to homeschool my children.

Enola Gay is a Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber, named for Enola Gay Tibbets, mother of the pilot, then-Colonel (later Brigadier General) Paul Tibbets.   On 6 August 1945, during the final stages of World War II, it became the first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb on an enemy target in a war. The bomb, code-named "Little Boy", was targeted at the city of Hiroshima, Japan, and caused unprecedented destruction.

Just what I needed, a video clip of "stand by your man complainer" Hillary.  Whew, did she ever show her butz in that hearing?

I'm with the majority on this one, stall tactics and nothing more.  Imagine what our enemies are doing with this
proposal?  Everything that our government is doing or suggesting towards Iran is going along with what the
Iranians want.  I'll put it this way in a slogan.  "Know God, Know Peace, No God, No Peace".

Interesting remarks about your school training Kari,

I don't approve of the public school agenda from what I know of it as it is today for
my grands.  I finished high school in '62.  In those days, I took every course on history that was available.  We had 7th grade SC history, World History in the 10th, American History in the 11th, and Us Gov. in the 12th.  I am amazed at the way my grands complete their assignments.  I have three grands in grades 7th, 9th and 9th at two separate schools, one being a private.  All three are on the honor roll and two are taking honors courses.  I still can't figure out how they are maintaining these grades and never bringing a book home.  They have study periods in each class and are encouraged to do their assignments then.  Always been that way and I don't want to say what they aren't teaching these kids from my interactions with them on occasions.  I'd like to see their book contents but they never bring them home.  The only study materials that I've seen are copies of on line materials that they give out to the kids to do their assignments.  The one grand in the private school is getting the better education from what i've seen of his study materials.  I think that the other two grands are being deprived of the real history of our world.
