The DHS page offers links to government websites that explain how to access benefits including food stamps, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, Medicare, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the "official website with information on all available federal benefit programs," with a nonworking link to Benefits.gov.

It's hard not to slip back into depression.

Not only is this crap not going to stop, we're staring at 4 more years of building on it.

When did we get out of it?   You can not slip back if your not out.  As long as b o is printing money and giving it away, we are in a depression.

So when you come here legally, through proper channels, you are expected to have a sponsor or some type of financial support for many years after arriving here, but if you jump the boarder we just hand you cash....Yeah, that is going to encourage people to come legally...

I was talking about personal depression.

I can only see one silver lining.................

Lots of fishing over the next four years..............unless of course, PETA has it outlawed.

Now you understand why all of us expat Americans are so PO'd at the
DHS, State Dept and immigration folks...not to Mention Obamao.

Try and get your spouse (Legally) to the US even with a tourist VISA
they act like you are some kind of criminal for wanting  a 30 tourist VISA....never mind the paperwork you got to show to prove you can support her or the funds she has to support herself.

I just went thru this and it is rediculous, bear in mind Mrs Billy was educated in the US and GB, is financially better off than I am yet we still had to jump those hoops.

Yep. A buddy of mine married a girl from Peru. It took her 7 years to get citizenship, and she's a licensed and employed, (in the US), architect.

The quickest, easiest way to US citizenship is to either swim or hop across the southern border. Even al qaeda knows it. They don't bother with green cards anymore.

If your a white male with a foreign wife....you can forget about an easy time with DHS, Immigration etc.

My wife would have an easier time if she applied as an investor or with a work permit.

It's gonna take 50 years to correct the damage that Bush and Obama has done to this country.

Sorry, but it started long before those two.

True.  But it seems have been accelerated over the past 12 years.  IMO.

It's a little ironic. If we take everything off the table except spending and an overreach of government power, we voted for a 3rd, and now a 4th Bush term. I knew that damned knee jerk patriot act was going to lead to problems. Now with Obama in charge, we will see the abuses truly unfold.

I think it more like peoples eyes are being opened and the silent majority is speaking out more and more.  This is not new, the Dem's and RINO'S are just more open about it.

My husband and I have a friend with a similar situation, she finally made it here legally after fighting with our government and hers.  The Japanese government did not want to let her go because she is educated and productive.
