DeSantis team has a warning about 'Ron to the Rescue' PAC as 2024 speculation intensifies

By Kyle Morris | Published November 19, 2022 | Ron DeSantis | FOX News

TAMPA, Fla. - Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis' team has a clarification about a super PAC boosting him as a candidate in the 2024 presidential race and the future of the Republican Party.

In a letter sent Friday to DeSantis' donors, Benjamin Gibson, legal counsel for DeSantis, said he had "recently learned through media reports that a super PAC apparently named 'Ron to the Rescue' ('PAC') is being formed reportedly 'in order to boost a potential 2024 presidential run from Governor Ron DeSantis.' This is similar to other 'pro-DeSantis' PACs that have formed and continue to use Ron DeSantis' name and likeness to raise funds without his permission or authorization."

"Whether well-intentioned or not, the organizers of these PACs have not been in contact with DeSantis leadership and such efforts may create confusion amongst supporters of the Governor and his policies," Gibson wrote.

.......................

"It is important to make clear to supporters that Governor DeSantis and his team are not affiliated with the 'Ron to the Rescue' PAC, have not authorized it to conduct any activity on their behalf, and contributions made to the 'Ron to the Rescue' PAC will not benefit Governor DeSantis or his agenda," Gibson said.

DeSantis-aligned super PAC asked for $50 million from donors on day of first GOP primary debate, leaked audio shows

QuoteThe pitch appeared structured to convince donors the super PAC had a plan for their dollars if they would open up their pocketbooks. A fundraising goal of $50 million by the end of the year would exceed the $47 million the super PAC raised on its own between its March launch and the end of June. Almost half of that money came from one source, Nevada businessman and space entrepreneur Robert Bigelow, who recently told Reuters he intended to refrain from further contributions until DeSantis could demonstrate he's "able to generate more on his own."

Ok, let's hear from Zen how well DeSantis is doing. Is he climbing up the polls? Is he crowding Trump for the top spot? Is he leaving the crowd behind in the race?

The article only said that there were $50 million in commitments. It didn't say how much of that money had already been donated or how much was spent.

Nationally, his numbers aren't great right now.  Compared to Trump, nobody is close.  In Iowa, he's polling within about 20% of Trump.  Not great, but better than his national numbers.

I changed my registered party from Independent to Republican specifically to vote for a Republican that's running against Trump.

Why didn't you switch to the democrat party to vote for Biden? Waiting for the general election? maybe that's a crappy question to ask, but you're the one who stated he wants to vote against Trump, not vote for anyone.

I don't vote for a party. I vote for a person regardless of the letter next to their name.

But you just said you were switching parties in order to vote AGAINST someone not FOR someone. Were you mistaken or just wrong about that too? That's pretty bad when you're wrong about your own motives.

when I started paying close attention to politics, it became clear that Republicans were no more concerned about the debt than Democrats. At that point I change my party to Independent because I didn't want to be associated with either party, both of which had significant issues outside of spending. Trump versus Hillary was the worst election I've ever witnessed personally. Trump versus Biden in 2020 was a close second.  What has happened since the 2020 election has put us on the path to the two worst options in the history of the county.  In the hopes of having one option to vote for, And since the Democrats have no good options even if Biden doesn't run, I am going to vote for whoever has the best chance to beat Trump in the primaries.
