Title: Cromnibus - my Representative responded
Post by: Solars Toy on January 12, 2015, 10:34:19 AM
I received a email response from my Representative - Tom McClintock.  I fully expected him to vote against it so that was no surprise.  In the part I bolded I can only assume House leadership is of course...Boehner.  Toy

Thank you for writing regarding the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015, also known as the cromnibus.

The purpose of this legislation is to fund the federal government for the next year.  The cromnibus is a compilation of eleven appropriations bills, seven of which were passed by the House in another form throughout the year and sat stagnant in the Senate.

While I have grave concerns about many of the provisions in the cromnibus, one of my objections is its failure to use the power of the purse to prohibit the brazenly unconstitutional actions of President Obama on illegal immigration.  I co-sponsored an amendment, which was denied a vote by House leadership, to prohibit any taxpayer money from being used to fund executive amnesty.  Additionally, I oppose handing control of federal spending over to a Senate under the direction of Harry Reid for the next nine months, particularly as the Congress newly elected by the American people will be sworn in this January.

For these and other reasons, I strongly opposed the bill and voted against it.  To learn more, I invite you to visit my website and view my speech on the House floor at:  http://mcclintock.house.gov/2014/12/the-constitutional-crisis-what-to-do.shtml (http://mcclintock.house.gov/2014/12/the-constitutional-crisis-what-to-do.shtml) .

Well, y'all can appreciate what I went thru in finding out that Trey Gowdy went in favor of the bill as well.  I can tell you this much, S. Carolinians are not happy with Gowdy.  He was on conservative talk radio last week after the results of the vote were in and got his hair curled by the talk show host and callers-in to the show.  Gossip has been that Gowdy has stated that he most likely won't seek another term even before the vote started on this last bill.  Dunno, I am just another dumb tax payer.

Gowdy is not the Conservative most think he is. He actually has a rino rating, around 60% Conservative approval rating.
But on somethings, he's solid.

Not surprised Bishop (my congresscritter) from Utah didn't vote against it - he is pretty much a RINO. I'm a little surprised that Chafitz didn't oppose it though. I guess he's gone RINO now too!

What a shame...

I am sadly to say represented by Boehner, and I can tell you now the only reason he's still in Congress. Is because we can't get/find/support (financially it costs mils to run for Pres and the Senate) someone to run against him. Believe me the people in Boehner's district are NOT liberal in their thinking. This Constitutional district is actually quite conservative, being in the Bible belt and all.

That said however, that doesn't look like a form letter to me.
Looks to me like either the Representative himself, or one of his staff took the time to actually sit down and reply.

You WON'T get that from Boehner, unless of course you line his pocket book with campaign donations.  :woot:

Psssst... Boehner sued the Administration in late-November.

Is the suit going anywhere?  No.  Do I approve of Boehner?  No.  Is it the beginning of the 2nd week of 104-weeks for the brand-new Republican-majority Congress?  Yes.
