Ben is popular because he is a nice guy, intelligent and very likeable  I like him too but liking someone doesn't mean he'd make a good President. He is a brilliant Doctor, and Doctors tend to be humanitarian. Sometimes too humanitarian, would he be tough enough to deal with the real sharks in this world....Putin, Iran, the Chinese, the insane NORK's????

His strong point is going to be dealing with Obamaocare....Now years ago I heard his "plan" on "Replacing healthcare" it involved some sort of account begining (forced no doubt) and when they begin working they pay it off  now the person has a health care account just like social security...I really don't like the sound of that.

Now he might have modified that somewhat over the years but I think this guy is a Moderate (code name RINO) not an elitist or a socialist but a mild conservative of some sort.
Good description.

QuoteTrump Keeps Lead in New Fla. Poll as Carson Jumps to Second Place

Donald Trump continues to lead the 17 Republican presidential candidates in Florida, but retired pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson has jumped to just four points behind the billionaire developer, according to a new survey.

But two Sunshine State politicians in the primary race, former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio, immediately trail the two front-runners, with Bush falling to third place in the survey for Morris News Service.

Trump led the survey of 498 adults, at 29 percent, with Carson finishing at 25 percent. Bush was next, at 19 percent, with Rubio following, at 6 percent.

The survey's results were published Thursday in The Savannah Morning News. It was conducted by Atlanta-based OpinionSavvy research firm and has a margin of error of 4 percent.

"Trump's strongest support by far comes from the youngest of voters (age 18-29)," said OpinionSavvy pollster Matt Towery. "But he also seems to be strong with those aged 45-64, a potent segment of Florida GOP primary voters.

Trump and Carson beating Bush and Rubio heavily in "FLORIDA"! Wow! Jeb and Rubio are in real trouble if they can't carry their home state!

Well Ben Carson on the issues have him as a Conservative Libertarian.  I like him and there are things that concern me about him.  He's different.  He was a Democrat and then an Independent.  Doesn't say when he became a Republican.

Strongly objects to abortion but only comes out at banning after 20 wks.  Same as Fiorina.  He strongly objects to abortion for convenience.  I thought that he would come out stronger on this issues.
Another concern is Crime.  Has some Obama sounding elements to it.  Although I did like that he is against welfare.  Don't work your on your own.  He comes from the city (Detroit) so I think his views are shaped by what he saw growing up.

He falls on immigration which is one of the biggest issues for me.  Interesting he referred to Canada.  Would have to see what their immigration policies are.

I stand by my first point (2nd post). But n Carson is the black Mr Rogers. If he were running, he wouldn't be taken seriously by Conservatives.

So aside from his one real accomplishment as a talented surgeon, what has he done to qualify as potential POTUS?

Spoke at a prayer breakfast....

Well that clinches it.

Yeah, chosen speaker at a prayer breakfast, invited by the GOP'e to speak, and no one makes the RINO connection in backing a no name candidate?
He comes out of nowhere, has never been elected to office of any kind, has no proven leadership skills, yet we're supposed to take this guy as a serious contender?

I believe the truth is, he's the Establishments guy designed to syphon votes off from TEA.
Once again, the RINO underestimate the base, and tossed out a candidate that siphoned off BUSH supporters.
Talk about shooting themselves in the foot.

??? vote from me.  From the Beck interview:

"Appearing on Glenn Beck's radio show this past week, Dr. Benjamin Carson took a vastly different stance from most conservatives on the issue of gun control, claiming you shouldn't be able to own semi-automatic weapons in large cities."

But when asked whether people should be allowed to own "semi-automatic weapons," the doctor replied: "It depends on where you live."

"I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I'm afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it," Carson elaborated.

However, if you live "out in the country somewhere by yourself" and want to own a semi-automatic weapon, he added, "I've no problem with that."

Interpretation: "I can't trust the STUPID PEOPLE that live in cities, we need to limit their freedom."
My take: remove all potentially harmful weapons, guns, kitchen knives, cars, and BBQ grills so nobody can be hurt.  Put the entire populace on lock-down, because it's better to live in a safe society (and violate everyone's rights) than risk ONE criminal might be loose and kill someone.  People that live in the cities NEVER leave their area, and neither do country folk.  Safety for Freedom argument.

Carson is a quick study, I expect him to come up with another answer, but would it be against or for the 2nd amendment?  The interview was done BEFORE he decided to run for Prez...

The rest of the interview is worth watching.  His answers are quick and to the point.

We now know what happens to a country that disarms itself on the promise it would be defended - Ukraine.

Surgeon General in the Cruz Administration. THAT is his proper place.

Surgeon General  and  Secretary of Health and Human Services  are two different positions.

Surgeon General  is two steps below  Sec. of HHS  on the organization chart.

Basically, the Surgeon General is in charge of only fighting disease outbreaks.

I'd be okay with Ben Carson as Sec. of HHS.
But I wouldn't want him to be President,
for the same reasons others on this thread have cited.
Here are the 10 RINOs who voted to impeach Trump on Jan. 13, 2021 - NEVER forget!
WY  Liz Cheney      SC 7  Tom Rice             WA 4  Dan Newhouse    IL 16  Adam Kinzinger    OH 16  Anthony Gonzalez
MI 6  Fred Upton    WA 3  Jaime Herrera Beutler    MI 3  Peter Meijer       NY 24  John Katko       CA 21  David Valadao

Both positions need to be eliminated, they serve no real purpose.

I wonder how much Carson support comes from Healthcare, Big Pharmaceuticals, and the AMA?
That might explain the black face.  Recall, not so long ago, Cruz had the Washington cartel quite concerned.
