This is the chaos I was talking about.
You have to prove intent in a false report, some of these idiots are actually afraid and intimidated by guns to the point they panic if they see someone carrying, in my area of virginia it is no big deal but you have yuppies, urban liberals and the wine and cheese crowd who venture forth into the countryside and freak any time they see a rifle rack in a 4x4
Now if the 911 dispatcher is doing his/her job they can put it in a proper perspective if a unit is summoned. Then you get into the problem of crying wolf.....when the real bad guys show up intent on an armed robbery or something....
I would say that some of these calls are going to INVOLVE OFF DUTY POLICE or plainclothesmen/detectives etc. The cops aren't going to like it and hold the caller responsible.
Last if any legit carry is killed or injured it is lawsuit time against the caller and possibly even this organization vicariously for starting into motion this stupid and dangerous practice.

tackled, handcuffed, pawed, tased or shot. These are people who were doing nothing suspicious, nothing threatening. They just simply were carrying a gun. In a holster.
When people hysterically call 911, why does the dispatcher never ask the obvious question: is the gun in a holster? And why when cops arrive, do they never simply walk up to the person (who isn't brandishing the weapon) and ask to see a CCW permit?
Instead, we have severe over-reaction by the caller and by the responding police.

Hmm... IF a gun is out in plain site and in a holster. Why would a officer ask for a CCW permit? As it is not a concealed weapon.

However, this may explain why it appears that way, because activists, in their attempt to desensitize the public over guns, are creating more issues than their goal accomplishes.

He wouldn't. But you could expect to be frisked as though you were a common criminal.
We used to have an "open carry" gun club around here. (in CA no less)
You would see them around occasionally, at restaurants and there were several at the local fair. Haven't seen them in about three years. I'll have to research why that is. They probably got too many complaints I'm guessing.

Well, we just got open carry, and you still need a permit to carry. Your conceal permit allows you to open carry, so guessing here you would be asked to show your permit. Can't really see anyone making it a big deal.

Hmmmm. Reagan signed a law as Governor banning open carry back in the 60s as a way of stopping the black Panthers from intimidating "whomever".
There is no legal open carry in Ca. and hasn't been for decades.

No it was a local fair. The border is about three hours from me.
I just looked it up. It's an open carry club that's local, but there are others all over southern CA. I knew I must have seen them in restaurants, that's where they have their meetings.
