A federal appeals court ruled that privately funded crosses erected on public land are an unconstitutional state endorsement of Christianity.

If a recent appeals court decision is not overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, the Christian cross could soon become an unconstitutional symbol -- even in places like Arlington Cemetery, a conservative advocacy group warns. The case, Davenport v. American Atheists, Inc., "may very well be the most important religious liberty case in decades," the Family Research Council said.http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/supreme-court-urged-decide-case-involvin

This is wrong on just way too many levels.  Isn't it "freedom" of religion?   >:( >:(

The ironic thing is, that the Mormon Church (last count 60% of the state of Utah are Mormon) do not recognize the cross as a religious symbol!

But they respect it as a part of our culture, and would never stand for this.

Now they do.

40 years ago, things were different. My wife's Lutheran Church had to go to court to get permission to erect a cross outside their newly constructed church! There were laws at that time (written at the behest of the LDS Church) which prevented any permanent display of a cross in public!

The ruling itself is a clear violation of the rest of the first ammend.  ...Nor prohibit the FREE expression thereof.
