Title: WHO replaces Rush Limbaugh?
Post by: Hoofer on May 24, 2021, 09:26:55 AM
Rush is gone, sadly.  First time I heard him, I was driving around Chicago, WLS on the radio, and following the shot, Roe came on with some snarky comment, "Well, that's the new guy, interesting, we'll see how long he lasts.." - it might have actually been the first day of his national syndication.  Anyhow... there's only ONE Rush.  No idea what's gonna happen next.

If I could VOTE someone in, as the Rush replacement - I'd pick Jason Lewis.
Heard him years ago on his broadcast, before his successful congressional run, called his show several times, he was a real breath of fresh air in the evenings - this was before Mark Levin was carried locally.

For me, Jason Lewis is easy-on-the-ears too.   Something I cannot say about the other big conservative talk show guns.... you know who they are.

I would prefer  Clay Travis. He  is the Rush Limbaugh of sports talk. Very  conservative and occasionally  gets  into politics. I  listen to him in the  mornings and  its cool to get a  non leftist view  of sports. Rush got  his start  in sports.

"Before we dive into the mailbag, let me leave you with this fact: if you're under fifty years old you, were nearly as likely to be murdered in the past year as you were to die of COVID. How would you have responded if you'd invited friends out to dinner and they'd refused to go because they were afraid they might get murdered — or die in a traffic accident driving to the restaurant, which was also far more likely? You'd have thought they were insane, right? (Or maybe a Mexican drug lord with a hit out on them.) Yet we've so normalized an inability to process and analyze risk that instead of calling out your friends for idiocy, we've turned extreme safetyism into a virtue. It's madness."

Just a sample from Clay Travis

What about Dan Bongino?
Title: Re: WHO replaces Rush Limbaugh?
Post by: Solar on May 24, 2021, 12:24:20 PM
Talk radio is pretty much dead to me now that Rush is gone.
When Reagan left office, I thought we'd never see another in my life span, but Trump came forward, so I have hope another Rush is just now entering the political radio spectrum.

At the moment, there isn't one I'll listen to.

Quote from: SueAnn on May 24, 2021, 12:24:05 PMWhat about Dan Bongino?
That's what I was wondering, I read Bongino was taking over May 24th, TODAY - so I tuned in... curiosity.
https://www.westernjournal.com/rush-limbaughs-replacement-officially-announced/ (https://www.westernjournal.com/rush-limbaughs-replacement-officially-announced/)

"A news release from Westwood One said that "The Dan Bongino Show" will launch May 24 in the noon to 3 p.m. Eastern Time slot."

Jason Lewis was hosting - I couldn't listen to the entire show, missed the first 20min, and heard about 30min past that.  Since I like Jason Lewis - if he got some humorous stuff, like Rush had, meh.... could be nice background noise.

One thing I don't need while I'm trying to work, high energy, intensity talk ... just give me some conservative, funny stuff occasionally... or I gotta turn it off.

Like you, I am pretty limited, thought I AGREE with much of what they might say.
"Sickem Mark, go get 'em!!!"  >click< radio off, I'm sorry... can't deal with it.
"Sickem Sean Hannity, go get 'em!"  >bang-bang-bang<  kills the radio... heard those 3-4 phrases repeated too many times.

Sorry, just can't listen, it's like a Cat being petted backwards!  annoying.

Yep, after 10 minutes they all sound like Mike Savage.
Rush had a gift of suspense, humor and the insider info we all tuned in for. It was 3 hrs of entertainment that won't soon be replaced.

Last time I heard *anything* about Savage... he felt Donald Trump "snubbed" him ...and was trying to claim credit for *launching* Trump's campaign into the stratosphere.  Like Trump would have gotten *nowhere* - were it not for Savage.   >click< - >bang-bang-bang<  :cursing: >what?... still talking...?  >bang-bang-bang<  (sound of breaking plastic being run over by a truck...).   I got no patience for shock-jocks or whatever they're called.

Bill O'Riley and Michael Savage would make a good "Talk-show cage match"  :scared:   ... I might tune in to hear that one.

Boortz said several times that
anyone who sends their children to government schools
should be prosecuted for child abuse.

I agree that government schools really are that bad.

Currently, I like Dana Loesch (lash) on radio.

The Rush Limbaugh Show is continuing his legacy.
His research staff is still fully functioning.
His replacements are benefiting from that.

The Brian Kilmeade Show varies widely.
It depends entirely on what guest he has on at the time.
When he has RINO guests, Kilmeade is as bad as John McCain.

Buck Sexton And Clay Travis Set To Take Over Rush Limbaugh's Time Slot

The Rush Limbaugh replacements are in, as Clay Travis and Buck Sexton will take over his three-hour conservative talk radio show time slot, said distributor Premiere Networks.

The duo will serve up similar right-wing fare, tackling news stories of the day, politics and current events, peppered with call-ins from listeners and humor. Premiere Networks hopes the younger voices will bring something new to talk radio, while also continuing on in Mr. Limbaugh's legacy. The program, slated to begin airing June 21, will be called "The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show." It is expected to air around the country, from noon to 3 p.m. ET, on hundreds of stations.

"We're not going to replace Rush Limbaugh, we're going to have an evolution of the show with fresh voices—those that grew up on Rush and admired him," said Julie Talbott, president of iHeartMedia Inc.'s Premiere Networks.

It's pretty much OVER, that time slot 12-3pm EST for me.  I wasn't really tuning in the last 5 years, and this just puts the final nail in the coffin.

Who ever they put in there, IMO, is the sacrificial talk-radio lamb, they probably have someone else waiting in the wings.   Throw out a couple of guys, give them a shot (expect them to fail), insert your "guy/gal" and hope for the best.

Sure, I'll give a listen... probably not long though.

Posted something earlier ... didn't take ... doesn't matter.

I listen to quite a lot of sports radio, but it is all before 8 am.  I watch zero TV.

Clay makes sense, but does ramble.  One of his thoughts is that radio is the new media of choice.  Facebook can and does delete posts, as can any social media.  Texts can be blocked and TV can be deemed offensive so out comes the ban button.

So I like the guy, but won't listen that late in the day.  Those hours are devoted to things that I can be more active in, such as my bees.  Today being an exception due to the rain and cold.

I think it is a great choice.

Idub had this one nailed months ago.

In any case, boobs and free speech.

You know that I REALLY liked about Rush, probably above everything else, his insite of the Liberal mindset.  Knew the Liberals like he knew his own body, or back of his hand.  Funny, but I just realized, Rush is the ONLY person I've ever heard on the radio who could give BOTH sides of the argument with such clarity and depth, sometimes kinda Snarky...   He would just nail the Liberal talking points, their ill-logical arguments, and destroy their foundation, in a minute, rather than offer weak talking points to defend "our side".

Boortz had a different style, dripping & cutting sarcasm of Liberals.
Rush did it with such hilarious humor, showing absurdity by being absurd - brilliant!

Part  of the reason he  rambles is  because he  does Sports talk. We will see what  happens with politics. Once  i started  listening to him i thought if the people deciding who replaces rush were  listening  he would be a top candidate.
