Whatever happened to our "friends" at the Westboro Baptist Church?

This whole Homosexual Marriage ruling by the SCOTUS would seem to be made to order for the followers of the late "Rev" Fred Phelps, but there is nary a peep out of them!

This kind of lends credence to something I've though about the WBC for quite some time now. Namely, that they are a front group for the Democrat Party. Not many people know that Fred Phelps was a card carrying Democrat and was active during the Civil Rights era of the 1960s.

Now, look at what his "church" chose as targets of their "protests" - mostly soldiers funerals. Originally the funerals of gay soldiers, but then the expanded their protests to cover the funerals of any soldiers (based on the assumption that they were doing the bidding of homosexuals in the government!)

And, also, note the timing - it coincided with and reached its zenith during the Democratic Party assault on George W Bush and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan!

I'm sorry, but, for me, this is more than just a coincidence!

I read someplace?
That a crowd gathered around and kept everyone not invited to not attend the funeral..

You are probably right, Darth.  We should NEVER underestimate the tactics of the Left.  They are always several steps ahead of us in their twisted thinking.....

Most of us don't have the devious minds needed to grasp their every shenanigan.  It is only in hindsight that we wake up to their antics.   :scared:

I'm pretty sure you're referring to the Patriot Guard - a loose confederation of motorcyclists who formed a physical barrier between the Westboro "protesters" and the military funeral attendees.  I'm certain the presence of the Guard was a comfort to the grieving family.

I've often wondered why the mainstream Baptist churches don't sue the WBC to get them to remove Baptist from their name? I attended a Baptist Church here in Utah a few years back and a better bunch of people you will never find!
