Slavery to Blame for Riots in Ferguson and Baltimore

by J. Christian Adams

Vanita Gupta, head of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, has told a lawyers group in Colorado that slavery and Jim Crow helped fuel the Ferguson and Baltimore riots.

What a crock!

Walter Williams at least gives us a reasonable explanation for the black riots.

OMG the welfare state??  You mean the leftists dream of the government plantation is the real cause?
And that's what it is too, the government plantation. Do something to better yourself, you get penalized. It's that simple.

But Jim Crow laws, and the slavery of over two hundred years ago are to blame? Boy talk about grasping at straws! What we saw in both those cities were outside agitators, egging things on.

Who just had a sit in, at a certain organization, because they weren't paid the money they were promised they would be paid, for traveling to those cities and instigating violence.

They should be arresting them, for incitement of riot. Which is last I checked still against the law.

If men don't have jobs, then they become less attractive to marry in the eyes of women.  This has been studied specific to the case of lack of black marriages and has been effectively shown.

My point is that this is a class issue, not a race issue.
The murder of black men by cops, including the now recent revelation about on duty Iraqi veteran john Brown, is a race issue and not a class issue.   To conclude otherwise is to not only ignore thousands of research studies on both topics, but also again, something that is comical.

Exactly how many "classes" are there in America?

What is the definition of each "class"?

Are there "good" classes and "bad" classes?

Can a person move from one "class" to another? If so, how?

Not even a mention about bad choices, dropping out of school, joining gangs, drug dealing and other criminal activity that leads to incarceration and makes the felons less employable? It's all the cops and history's fault right!!
Maybe the real problem is they make more money at their criminal activity and don't want a real job!!

1 - Employer
2 - Employee
3 - Government Leech
4 - Non-government Leech

2 becomes 1 through hard work. 3 stays in power because 4 does not.

None of us could understand them (speech). They are killing themselves and blaming Slavery or that whites hates them.

We don't have a class system, everyone is equal under the law. Or well supposed to be. And that's the problem, American's in their apathy have allowed some, to think, that they are above the laws of the land. As for example the President does. As for example Hillary Clinton does.

As for "classes" some like to try and de-unite this nation by talking about this class or that class. But technically we aren't a caste system nation. As yes you can move upwards and downwards in our society economically. Usually through going to school or learning a trade etc...

Unless you happen to be on the government plantation, then you are penalized for trying to make yourself better. There are even cases where people have been told that because they went to school, while they were getting entitlements, they have to pay them back the assistance they got.

I even know of one person who was told they couldn't get benefits, why? Because their parents collected on them as children when they shouldn't have been.

So unless and until that child, or the parents repays, they can't get any help. That's just a few examples I know of personally, where individuals are being penalized for not being on the plantation. Or trying to get off of it.

Lastly let me say this, I am on disability. Mine is service related, I am not a leech, as if I could do what I used to do, I made way way more than I get on my disability. Would I work? In a n.y. second, if I could find a stable job, which would pay the bills. Lastly, I am not getting an "entitlement", I am not on "welfare" I am getting what I was promised and what I have not only paid into, but have through my service earned.

Note the period. And remember that, the next time some feel the urge to lump all who receive "welfare" as leech's.

Hey, that's discriminatory! We don't have an official language in the United States. So it's up to you, to know ebonics and jive! I jest, of course. Well partly, I do think we should make English the official language of the United States though.

I get so fed up with being told "for services in English press 1"  every time I call a business anymore that's what it seems like they say.

To hell with that, I'm an American, I speak English, and I shouldn't have to press anything to converse with another American. The problems you ran into, are precisely why I think some industry should't be allowed to outsource to other nations. Such as financial institutions for example. They should have to be based in, and have their call centers based in, the United States. I once wound up speaking to someone overseas, who didn't know the difference between a customers rights, and a privilege.

That was pretty much my point. I was just wondering how our recently departed forum member would have tackled that question.

By going off topic and posting another source his professor gave him. Then claim how he is kicking everyone's ass, how stupid we are, call us a few more names and then go back to his video games. everything but answer the question.

No in the case of cops shooting black men its a crime issue.  Young black men commit most of the crime in the USA...mostly against other black men, women and children, black on black crime is a statistical fact. Now rather than address this issue the left tries to obscure the facts and Stats and scream "Racism".  So Im a racist for pointing out facts.  THATS WHY NOTHING EVER GETS DONE ABOUT THE PROBLEM

How else shall we explain the bloody streets of chicago were some weekends see more than 40 people (Mostly all black) shot, stabbed beaten by mostly other Blacks.
