Is Global Warming Causing More Shark Attacks?

QuoteNorth Carolina saw six shark attacks in the course of just one month, so of course news media is trying to link the unusually high amount of bites to global warming.

National Geographic published a piece exploring the different factors possibly driving last month's shark attacks. One of the five factors influencing shark attacks the news outlet listed was "global warming."

National Geographic claimed that as "warming is expected to increase, it will likely bring more sharks farther north and entice more people to get into the water, which will lead to more bites." The news outlet noted earlier on in its article that "[m]ost shark attacks in North Carolina happen when the water reaches about 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius)" and that the "warmer weather has also brought more people to the state's beaches and entices them to take a dip to cool off."

Linking global warming to June's spat of shark attacks in North Carolina was criticized by Cato Institute climate scientist Chip Knappenberger who cautioned against such claims.

Isn't June the month the sharks usually feed off swimmers in south Carolina? ;D ;D ;D

Sharks aren't as stupid as Al gore, they learn to chase the food fish in the ever changing pattern of the North Atlantic, also to feed off of garbage that stupid humans dump in the ocean. I dunno about the fishing situation in NORTH carolina but in South Carolina Myrtle beach, they have this loooonnnnggg pier that goes out into the water and although it is posted against shark fishing the sharks come in anyhow to grab the fish the fishermen throw back or the bait fish. Of course people from the waterfront hotels swim nearby, a miracle there aren't more attacks.

Do they throw the fish guts into the water?
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

Or maybe, as Rush has suggested, it is the fact that the Liberal EcoFascists are doing such a good job of protecting the sea turtles who lay their eggs on the Atlantic coast of the U.S. that the sharks are just being drawn to this growing food source...

Probably, they do throw smaller fish back ...or "garbage: fish that nobody eats...these fish are wounded and bleeding, prime prey from sharks.

On the other hand, I can;t help but wonder if the Greenpeace, save the whale envirowhacko types haven't upset the balance of nature with their protests and calls for Govt regulation on the ships that go after sharks, like the Japanese/Chinese for the shark fin soup
