He will receive back pay as well as missed overtime, accrued holidays and other benefits to which he would have otherwise been entitled.

The sergeant had been terminated by Sheriff Gregory Tony, who replaced Scott Israel in that role following the shooting. Israel had been suspended from the department by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis after the massacre; he is currently running against Tony to reclaim his position there.

yes...but his job was to protect and defend.   And those were kids.

Knowing BSO deputies like I have....and I've known many.....most want t go home after their shift.

I've known many BSO Sheriffs. Some had big balls. Some were political hacks who were all talk.

Scott Israel was a political hack.

I knew a BSO Deputy who got so fed up with the politics he radioed in he was quitting. Walked off leaving his car doors open, lights flashing and caught a cab home.

He is a legend....LOL
