Hey, just look at the way the pundits have changed over the past couple of years. Saying that a politician "lied" was not done. They would say he "misspoke". Well, that is out the window. Liar, liar, pants on fire is now everyday jargon!

Taboo in what way? He is not royalty and the Supreme Court has ruled it legitimate political speech to address the Prez in, ah, less than flattering terms.
As for mockery, try Jefferson and his critics, or any number of other Presidents who followed. It goes with the territory. Possibly the one receiving the lightest amount was John F. Kennedy and his thoroughly phony Camelot charade. One who also escaped was Jiminy Peanut of Plains, JAW-ja.
As long as mockery is allowed and not suppressed, a nation is more healthy than not.
