Title: Ash Wednesday...start of Lent...
Post by: Solars Toy on February 26, 2020, 01:27:34 PM
I remember as a young girl my friends and I would chose "things" to give up for Lent.  As a young adult I used it to quash bad eating habits for 40 days. (chocolate, sugar, sweets etc.)

Now as an older woman understanding what the Lenten period is for I am using it to read my Bible more, expand my prayer list, and maybe (because old habits die hard) attempt to maintain 12 hour fasting each day.

Does anyone else participate in Lent?  Has it deepened your faith and understanding of Christ?

Strength doesn't come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn't do.- Rikki Rogers.

And as always -

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

You put me to shame, ST. The only real change I make for Lent these days is serving fish for dinner every Friday.
