This is....shocking, to say the least.
Good riddance.

Okay, I'll bite!
Your reason?
Crappy songs. Squirelly lifestyle. Dubious intellect.

WOW!
So only musicians that write good music, have an approved lifestyle, (by your reasoning) and are really smart, deserve to enjoy a long life?
You sound like a real ray of sunshine.
He picked his lifestyle and way of living. You sometimes get what you pay for.
Out of curiosity, what was his lifestyle?
From what I know he was an eccentric artist. Married twice, didn't believe in drugs and was spiritual. He also donated to a lot of charities.
hah hah what he tried to do was to make a lot of money by touring. Most likely he used drugs for the same reason Michael Jackson did- to self medicate so that he could be more functional as an "artist".
My problem with this guy is that same one I have with pretty much all touring musicians - they are greedy enough and uneducated enough to think that they can do the same things with drugs they did when they were younger even though any reputable physician will tell them that they are going to be at high risk for early death if they do.
The lure of money and the ego-gratification of "reigniting his career" with a lucrative national tour likely drove him to this. That or it was suicide because he saw the collection date for his deal with Satan approaching and couldn't stand the anxiety any longer.
To be fair, I liked the music he did in the later part of his career a lot more than the stuff that made him rich. But if he had applied some thought and talent to how he lived instead of how he performed as a musician
Latest to come out. He Over Dosed.

Did they come out and say it? Nope, but I think it's safe to come to the conclusion it was a direct cause.

Another sad story with the same story line and ending. These celebrities have a tendency to surround themselves with enablers.

I'm still alive. I have all kinds of room to gloat and snigger at Just Another Dead Druggie™. Doesn't matter if he (or I) can play an instrument or make any musical noises. Doesn't matter.

I was never a Prince fan, never liked a thing he did, though I recognize his talent.
However, he was nothing special, he was an entertainer, and in typical Hollyweird fashion, succumbed to the call of alternative lifestyles, and this one moved him to an early grave.
Good riddance...
Why would a drug dealer admit to doing this? Isn't he afraid of getting arrested?

Unless a third party was a witness, what evidence would the court have after the death?
