This is a commonsense proposal being introduced in three counties in the ATL area. There are already calls to expand statewide. Is it unreasonable to ask able bodied folks to have a job or be in a training program to maintain their food stamp benefit. Of course the "hand wringers" are out there expressing the unfairness of this endeavor. I think it is a good start.
Only a brain dead liberal wouldn't like this idea. And there are a hell of a lot of them in this country.

It should apply to other welfare benefits as well. The old CCC in FDR's days was not a bad idea. Obviously, that would not be acceptable in today's world. However, the taxpayer should be entitled to the recipient's time if they are able bodied. Taking someone off the couch and away from the TV for 30 hours a week and picking up trash on the side of the road would put a lot of folks back to work.

I love nothing more than watching leeches get yanked off their host. I'd removed the child provision, but hopefully that happens in the near future.

I know some people can not work. But the rest can. From them NO WORK NO EAT. There not a day that I go into town that I don't see Help Wanted.

There should be time limits too, I think there used to be anyway. Two years, and that's it. I think young mothers need to be sitting in class learning a trade and also how to take care of their kids. There is a lot of child abuse/neglect in the welfare community.

Here is an update on this program. It is working. Now one must understand the Atlanta Journal/Constitution is a far left wing rag. Therefore, the article is more handwringing about hurting folks. Of course a dead giveaway on these situations is when the left complains about the cost of a program. The fact the results are so good for the three counties there is a legislative move to expand it to the entire state.
