During a campaign stop in Athens, Ohio, on Saturday September 8, Vice President Joe Biden said the last time he was in the town, playing against the Ohio University football team on October 19, 1963, he almost got arrested for walking into a girls' dormitory.

It's a good story. It's just not true... at all.

Shawn at Free Republic discovered that Joe Biden did not play football at the University of Delaware in 1961, 1962, 1963, or 1964, according to past yearbooks.

People sleep peacefully at night because there are a few tough men prepared to do violence on their behalf.

A foolish man complains about his torn pockets.

A wise man uses it to scratch his balls.

What is funny, in the old day back when I was a pup.  When something like that was said only a school or town could call BS on that and that where it stayed.  Now with the net, you could have 10.000 people check on what was said and passing it on and on and on.

Did anyone hear them on Fox News today talking about what if there was a tie in the electorial votes?   Said that if the two candidates got the same amount of electorial votes in the end, that it could likely go before  Congress........House and Senate....    And That they could likely have Biden and Romney on the same ticket as the winners.

If there is a tie, doesn't it fall back to the popular vote?

Nope. Goes to the House. The President is elected by the States in the Electoral College. Actually the Electors could decide to elect you POTUS.

Actually, if we still strictly followed the COTUS, there wouldn't be a popular vote for President at all.

Article II, Section 1 clearly defines what the COTUS has to say about election of the POTUS.

True, but that was written back in the day when it took weeks, if not months, to tally the popular vote. I'm wondering if it might not be time to amend that part of the Constitution and go with a strictly popular vote. It might be one way to weaken the Two Party system which has a stranglehold on American politics.

Back "in the day" there was no popular vote for POTUS.  It was done strictly by the electors.

I don't want to live in a pure democracy, and if you think about it for a while, I don't think you would either.

A pure democracy aka popular vote = mob rule.

I'm wondering where I said scrap the Constitution and do everything by a direct vote of the people?

Oh, that's right, I didn't!

All I'm pointing out is that the two tiered system of electing the president is fraught with pitfalls and, at the very least, confusing to the average American. All I'm saying is that it should be done one way or the other.

It is unrealistic to think that in 21st Century America, the citizens on this country will relinquish the "right" to vote for President of the U.S., so the only logical solution would be to do away with an archaic system, which was itself a compromise.

Madison, himself, said that electing the President by a popular vote of the people would be ideal, but that getting the slave holding state to go along with the idea, would be difficult at best.

In case you hadn't noticed, there are no more "slave" states...

Untwist your damn panties.

I never stated nor implied that you said to scrap the entire COTUS.

How in the fuck did you get that concept from my post?

The only way to live in a pure Democracy (which you imply that I would prefer) is to scrap the Constitution.

If you go to where they keep the video links here, you will find a video titled The American Form of Government. That was posted here by myself, not once, but twice.

I am well aware of the pitfalls and undesirability of a pure Democracy. I am also aware that our Founders wanted nothing to do with it.

Save your lectures on "mob rule" for somebody else!
