Damn zip, you should change your name to "Hoffa" or "Gompers" or something.  So do you know where Hoffa's carcass is buried?   ;D ;)

When the first "permanent" income tax was enacted, not all that long ago in 1913, the top marginal rate was 7%. Almost everyone who paid the income tax at all got the lowest rate -- 1%. And the federal government sailed along quite nicely on a financial diet that consumed less than 4% of GDP.

My, how things change.

Hoffa (the Teamsters) was not 'buried', his body disappeared. Probably ground up and incinerated or fish food in Lake Erie.

When the mob kills you, they send a message. Jimmy made a lot of mob money "disappear" with all the skimming he did while laundering their cash
via the "pension fund".

Try as I might I can't think of a good thing to say about any Union.

Damn, I really thought about it Billy, and honestly, todays unions are worthless.
I couldn't think of one good thing they do.
Simply put, they are organized extortionists.

My grandpa, an Irish immigrant, work in the  Pa coal mines, if you said the word "Union", they burned your house and beat you senseless. So unions were actually a good thing. My father, was a staunch union man, A sometime official
for a steelworkers local.

His brother was the head of the local at the time (1963/4?)when the teamsters decided to take it over. They couldn't do it unless they could influence or "buy the desenting element, which didn't happen, so they tried the other method, beat downs, intimidation, arson etc.

I recall my Dad, my uncle and others loading up their deer rifles, shotguns  and carrying tire irons around in their belts.

They refered to Hoffa as a "Hunky(Hungarian) Bastard working for the Dagos"(italians).

In the end the teamster left town...wisely.

In those days if you would have said the word, socialist or communist in the same breath as Union, you would have your head handed to you

I've been in two unions, the Pressmen and the UAW, and as far as I'm concerned unions have never strayed too far from their foundation which is violence.

Whether it's a tire iron or a lobbyist, unions are always about getting what you don't deserve but have the power to wrench from those who don't have the power to resist. Unions may be an inevitability given human nature and circumstances but the end of the union era can't come fast enough to suit me.

BILLY Defiant

Friend of mine is a retired pipefitter, worked 30 years in the union, says they are the most crooked bunch of theives in the world, he has a load of horror stories. He says nowadays they openly rip off and take advanatge of the immigrants. Shameful.

The Fair Tax is THE way to go! I own the book, have read the book, and can't figure out where all the Fair Tax supporters are!

Of course, you have to understand that the Fair Tax will probably never get through Congress in its current incarnation. Some changes will have to take place...

Wow. How did you know? Will you marry me?

hahaha, sweet.  It is totally the way to go.  I truly believe we won't really get our freedom back until we change the tax system.  A kid is never free while the bully can keep taking his lunch money at will.
