The hubs had been cutting down trees to make room for well and septic, he's also managed to mow about half the yard and get massive amounts of overgrowth and brush cleared.

The well is in, and the septic will go in Mon/Tue.  He is also repairing the driveway and trenching a line for the well to the house.

I have interviewed two electricians, the first came back with a quote that was one fourth our whole budget, I hope the second guy is more in line with what we budgeted.  If he is, electric will be run in two weeks.

Today, I am interviewing a plumber for a quote.  I really want this guy to work, if I could get the plumber and the roof squared away before the baby comes, I would be one happy chick.

I'm curious, how deep is the well and how many gals per minute did it yield?

  Sorry Solar, I know the well is 100ft deep, we are right next to a river, so we actually hit the highest water table at about 8 ft.  We had to make it 100 ft deep though because we are right next to a field, and the nitrates don't seep that deep (or so they tell me).  I honestly don't remember gal per min., sorry.

Thanks, I was just curious, I used to drill wells years ago, and our static levels dropped from 100' over a few years, down to 300'+, too many people moving up from the Bay area, planting vineyards.

I'm lucky, I have several Artesian wells, one feeds a holding tank that I pump up from with solar panels to another 2500 gallon tank to feed the house.
Though, I wish I had dug a well when I had the rig, but I hated the noise soo much so, that I just couldn't see spending my free time punishing my ears.
And I could have done it for free even...Doh!

Yeah, it isn't cheap.  I will admitt, I interviewed and hired the well guy, but left hubby to understand exactly what was going on.  If I understand correctly (and I wouldn't bank on it) the submursable pump goes to a holding tank.  Hubby showed me one, it isn't huge, about the size of a hot water heater, but massive compared to the 2.5 gallon one we have here at my dads.

The field next door had their irrigation well dug by the same guy, his is a separate aquafur, it is 240 ft deep, so we wanted to avoid going too deep.  Luckily, I live in an area with water apleanty.

We are 500' above the Columbia River and half mile away as the crow flies.  Our well is down 600' that way we will always have water.

That would be a pressure tank, something I will be getting also, it pressurizes the water so you have a reserve so the pump doesn't cycle as often, and gives you enough back up water for when the power goes out, you have enough for a shower.
Note: They last about as long as a water heater, about 10 to 15 years.
