The answer is, a mine in my area that has been around since the gold rush, not more than a mile from my house.
The thing is, we sit on an ancient fault that runs 30 miles long through Pleasant valley (Mc Columne fault, I think), about 15 air miles to the South.
I guess by the time it reaches their area, it has amplified a bit, because it isn't all that loud here, though you can feel it.
I have one post on my back deck that sits on solid rock and you can put your ear up to it and actually hear the equipment working in the mine .

I suspect I will be getting a call from authorities soon, but I see no reason to give up the mine owners.

A few years ago in rural MN a man used tanerite (not sure of spelling, sorry) to blow up a tractor.  He was on his own property and the explosive was legally obtained.  They arrested him anyway, though I cannot remember if the charges stuck, and I can't find the story online.

If it is on your property, and you are using something legally obtained, for its intended purpose, it bothers me that people can be even detained for that.

It isn't like meth where what you buy is put together to make something completely different, if you buy an explosive substance, chances are good, that you are going to blow something up.

I know these people and the mine has been in the family for generations and they have had explosives for decades in bunkers, some TNT, but not exclusively.
I think one of the reasons they have been doing their work in secret so to speak, is that they have had a lot of problems with the Fed wanting a cut in the operation.
I used to be friends with the senior family member before he died, real nice down to earth guy.
He left around 20lbs of gold to the family and their relatives, this caused animosity among the true family, so they have become quite recluse, so aside from the fed, I think they don't want the rest of the extended vultures snooping into their business.

I knew one of the wives of a nephew of the family, she was given around $100K in gold, blew it all in less than a year on partying.

I suspect I won't hear anymore blasting(Hint Hint to the family), now that the story broke, anyway, I hope they take heed of my warning that is.
