First, our government is based almost entirely off the ideas of the ancient pagans, FYI - not Judeo-Christian ideas.  And its no credit to your position against SSM, even if it were. 

Second, legal marriage is simply a recognition of something that has existed for a very long time as a social construct.  Same-sex marriage is the same way.  The relationships that would henceforth be recognized as "marriage" exist now.   Nothing new is being invented here.

Third, your case that same-sex marriage would consign you to sin is feeble.  The church has always maintained a separation between what marriage is as a legal institution, and what it is as a religious sacrament.  That goes the other way too.

I'd love to see you support those claims with something other than your personal opinion.

If same sex marriage were made the Law of the Land tomorrow, it would not change the fact that this Nation is $15 Trillion in debt or that Obama and his Marxist allies are well along the way to destroying the economic backbone of this country!

Can anyone here tell me how preventing (or promoting) same sex marriage will keep this Country from going over the fiscal cliff?

Does it really matter to you if people of the same sex are allowed to marry, when you can't afford to put gas in your SUV?

Will Defending Traditional Marriage, really matter when your guns are confiscated, and there are armed government drones on patrol over every town and city in this country?

So-called Gay Marriage is no non-issue! Most people don't really give a rat's ass about it one way or another! The dirty little secret is, they didn't care back when the DOMA was passed.

It's all pandering one way or another!

Let's save the country first, and worry about who should or shouldn't be allowed to get married to whom later.

Feel free to name some examples. Yes, there is a strong streak of Greco-Roman civilization running through some of our institutions - representative democracy for example. But I would say that much of the moral basis of our society is Judeo-Christian. It definitely wasn't the Greco-Roman part, for example, that found fault with slavery.

We are discussing that particular subject because that particular subject is reason for this particular thread. The fact that we are discussing it doesn't mean we've forgotten all the other problems you mentioned - as all the other threads on this board show.
