Please don't feel offended if your profession is in the latter list; I'm stating gross generalizations, of course.

The only one you got right was public school administrators...

No such thing as "underpaid" or "overpaid."

You get what you get. If you're not happy with what you're getting, change your profession. No one should whine and complain about their pay. Don't you know what salary range you'll get when you go into a job?

Apparently you are of a very small minority that views sports as somehow detri-mental, most see it as a healthy distraction from their lives and some even see it as a bonding tool within the family unit.

Once again, you demonstrate a complete failure to exercise basic reading comprehension skills; you seem to think that sport worship being a detriment to society means that sports shouldn't exist, period.

It's not that simple.  Certain very important professions (scientists, doctors, etc) being underpaid means less interest in these very crucial fields, and overcompensation on comparatively less useful fields means an excess of people choosing those careers.  As you can see, this stunts progress; it does not merely create an excuse for us to whine.

It's very simple, actually.  I shouldn't have to point out how ridiculous it is to declare that life is completely fair, and all professions are paid exactly what they are worth.

Again, the market pays what you're worth. Stop whining about it. Top professional athletes and entertainers make millions of dollars for their teams, cities and companies. People pay money to watch them. No one wants to pay money to see some science geek looking at test tubes or some teacher boring students to death with lectures.

The market decides what professions are worth the most money, not crybabies who fall apart because the world is so unfair.

Worth by what criteria?

What the fuck is your problem?  Are you under the impression that the cure for polio and smallpox were less important than Tom Brady's record tying 99 yard touchdown pass?

"some science geek" is precisely my point - you don't respect the people that actually save lives.  Those are not professional athletes and bankers.

You haven't provided a single argument to actually support why the omnipotent free market is the ultimate moral arbiter, other than appealing to itself.

After all, Obama won the election, and Mccain didn't.  Obama makes a hell of a lot more in a year than you ever will.  So by your own logic, you should stop whining about it, and deal with it.

Society's, apparently. People vote with their dollars.

No. I hate Tom Brady.

Maybe you should spend the rest of your life watching "Revenge of the Nerds." That'll keep you happy.

Do you see me whining about how much the Socialist Monkey gets paid? No, you don't. You know why? Because I don't envy or hate wealthy people.

Isn't it funny how a 12th man on an NBA team makes more money than the Socialist Monkey?

Tell that to the hundreds of thousands saved by the polio vaccine.

Until We decide to grow that list will stay backwards.

You can make money hand over fist by selling the public cheap goods for inflated prices, or You can try to save people while making crumbs in comparison.
I dont believe its really that we don't care about those who care for humanity enough to choose serving it as a profession, I think maybe we just look for escapes from those types of tough realities. That's why the football player makes so much more than the cop, or the actor to the school teacher.  People don't want to think on harsh reality, we'd rather watch spider man remade for the 800th time instead.

Curious, Sci-fi, how do You suggest we move from our current structure to the other?
"According to Gallup, 68 percent of Americans want corporations to have less influence in America."

Cryptic Bert

If this Marxist with training wheels had actually thought this through before posting he may have realized that each country in every state has a different economic climate and so what may be considered over or under payed in one region may or may not be so in another. And as far as athletes are concerned I have a feeling he has not researched how much ad revenue they bring to their respective teams and cities. And I doubt he has any sort of formula to work out what constitutes over or under payed.

Not only that, but crybaby fails to understand that pro athletes are the absolute BEST of the BEST. Out of tens of thousands of people who play basketball, for example, only 450 get to play in the NBA at any given time. They are the cream of the crop, and people are willing to pay good money to watch them display their skills. There are probably tens or even hundreds of thousands of teachers, doctors, firemen, etc. They do valuable work, sure, but they aren't special.
