Thanks Jas, I just saw him a moment ago, he's kind of excited about clearing the land and finally building what he wants.
I said I'll bring over my tractor after he sifts through the debris for any valuables, he said "screw it, come on over and bury it all, I really don't care what's in that mess, it's yesterdays crap, I want knew crap."

Now there's a Conservative outlook on life!

A lib would get on SS disability for mental anguish and move into subsidized housing. Remaining there for the rest of their miserable lives.

Jesus Solar!  I'm sorry to hear that man.  This just happened to a good friend of mine too.   Give him my best.

I have to say, it's the best his place has looked in years.
Always hated the house, so did he.

It used to be a fairly common way to build - especially out here in the West.

In Utah you used to see things called "basement houses". The family would dig the basement build the foundation and put the main floor on top as a temporary roof. They would then finish the basement and live in it until they had the time and money to finish the rest of the house. When they rest of the house was finished, since the basement was, in effect, a fully finished apartment, the could rent it out after they moved into the main house.

Built my first house that way! Had a great view of Banks Lake!! Miss those days!

Solar sorry to hear of your brother's loss but they were just things! Dogs and chickens survived which is the big plus!

That's the kind of spirit that made this country great. A balanced perspective on material possessions, and perseverance.

It runs in my family, some see us as callous, because we tend to move on so quickly,..
We just have a different way of looking at life, Hell, I never cried when either my brother or dad dies, I just moved on with my life.
Now when I lose family pets, that's a whole other thing.
