Just heard Stewart Varney on Fox say theres a compromise on the bush tax cuts in the works and it looks like it will get done....here it is....Taxed take a valium before you read this  :D

    The Bush tax cuts will be made Permanent for all middle class 200k and below and extended for one or two years for anyone above 200k.....Varney seemed pretty confident this was going to float.
    The good side is the GOP should be in power and able to extend them further or make the whole damn thing permanent like it should be

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here for a mite. To do so will require a few presumptions.

Let's presume the PUBS become the Big Frosties in both houses ( not too likely in my opinion ), but let's presume even one. ( the House ) Now, Dragon Lady Pelosi has her wings clipped, she is defanged, and is sent back to her lair.

Then let us presume the new regime of PUBS don't act as the old regimes, and actually attempt to do something for the people, instead of their same funky old tired asses. ( remember, over 50 percent of the people are on some form of the Government Teat )

How far will the new Congress be willing to go to spend political capital on;

Reducing the deficits

Reducing the spending

Shutting down the Government, if need be

Taking the heat for shutting down the Government

Once we get past the possibilities we have here, then we may talk about the Big Hog at the Trough, reducing and eliminating The 800 Pound Gorilla, The Debt.

My belief is this;

Meaningful reduction of The Debt can not and will not be affected without the major reduction in spending, and some form of taxes dedicated to the specific reduction of the Debt, which will lead us back to exactly where we are.

We have a choice; either a Big Time Attack on the DEBT or business as usual?

What do my astute fellow posters think and presume will happen?

There will be both, tax cuts and deficit reduction.

Lets take our National monuments and parks, a % of every ticket sold for entry goes to UNESCO, that's right, we support a communist organization.

I pointed out less that ..1% of waste, you do know there is still several billion to go, and it doesn't all have to be done right away.
I think closing the border, sending illegals will take a huge strain off the Country, not to mention employment would get an instant shot in the arm.

Remember, this is why we sent tea party people to the PUBS, to make sure changes are made, and they will be.

  I think you guys are forgetting something....The pubs need to get the economy going FIRST...not deficit reduction or anything else....JOBS and the ECONOMY, without doing that they are dead in the water...people dont want to hear were going to cut SS medicare were going to abolish this dept and that dept were going to reduce this and that...UNTIL theres job growth and they see an improvement in the economy....making the tax cuts permanent is the first step in restoring some sense of stability.
   One other point once our economy gets roiling again there will be tons more revenue coming into the Fed coffers that will help with debt reduction...once that happens coupled with cuts in spending the deficit will start spiraling down.....but the GOP have to show the people their first order of business is creating jobs and kick starting the economy thats the number one reason for this rout on congress

The jobs mkt is not a gov program, it is a private sector issue, one that has been stifled by gov action.
Once the Pubs are in and start cutting taxes, a signal will have been sent to the free mkt, and business will respond accordingly.
Watch the economy on Nov 15, it will be showing sings of recovery.

I think we should not just be the party of no but rather HELL NO!!! the people of this country are voting for gridlock. they want the libs stopped and ABM nomics rolled back and the republicans had better listen!! :o :o

The answer is stop spending, stop spending and when not spending, stop spending again.

This begins not so much with entitlements but with foreign aide and cutting military budget, we don't need 10,000 troops in Guam and 3,000 marines in Okinawa, Japan and how many in Europe, I doubt AQ is gonna attack those places.

We don't need to be giving x many billions of dollars to the UN or the IMF either.
Cut off aide to Haiti, Africa and Mexico first, dollars down the drain.

Now if you can get some of these people who will hopefully be getting elected on that thought train the rest should fall nto place. Problem is no matter how good a fight somebody talks they got to deliver or it is same old same old.

I was thinking about that too, wondering if it played a part.
I guess being a business owner in this economy, it would be easy to just say Hell no, I'm not hiring anyone.
But not so much to make the child potus look bad, but because it's the worst economy in decades, but not hiring because of Hussein takes the pain out of it. :D
Though, there probably are some business' out there that could expand right now, but would rather wait till the middle of Nov so the Pubs get credit.
