Considering all the talk about the national debt, why is it so hard for the GOP to cut some defense spending?

I realize that the GOP kickbacks from the military industrial complex are substantial, but seriously, the country is in debt trouble and we need to make cuts.

We DO have the mightiest force on the planet already!
Surely they can handle a few billion in cuts.

"The defense portion of the sequester, in my view, would clearly hollow our military," Boehner said at his weekly press conference, "The question I would pose is where's the White House? Where's the leadership that should be there to ensure that this sequester does not go into effect?"

The hawks are spending us into the ground.
AND Boehner thinks it will HOLLOW out our military!

I find it amusing, the way the GOP makes a deal on the debt and then tries to wiggle out of it when it didn't go their way!

This is one place Ron Paul is RIGHT, cut back on the military!

The GOP needs to get the priorities in order if you are even going to show in the election.
Cut Medicare and SS but beef up the military!

Why don't we cut the spending NOT mandated by the Constitution instead?

Explain to me while you are wrapping yourself in the constitution,
what the constitution has to do with NOT reducing the debt?

constitution provides for an armed force to protect us, but not sure it calls for HUNDREDS of bases all over the world and the power to destroy the planet a thousand times!

I thought conservatives were concerned about the national debt?

typically when a conservative has no real answer they wrap themselves in the constitution or the flag.

Governments main roll is to ensure order in society and to protect its citizens...if we cut defense too much we won't be prepared for more than one war... if our enemies know that we are weakened and vulnerable they will become more agressive.
