Yeah, seems weird, but the fact is, the party was in the process of ousting Xi. They had already purged all his supporters within the Party's ranks, more than 100 generals and staff.
We haven't heard from Xi in two weeks now, so I think it's safe to say his time was up.
But what if Trump throws him a lifeline? Demands that trade talks continue, with Xi only, that he and Xi have a special relationship, and Trump threatens increased tariffs.

The CCP will be between a rock and an even harder place. Trump may have just saved Xi from an Impending Deadly Accident.

I will wait and see. I have time.
Many such predictions have not come to pass.
Xi serves at the pleasure of the CCP standing committee. He has tried to pack it with supporters.
I doubt that Xi's successor will be much different.

China is in such bad shape, the choice is to get rid of Xi and place all the blame on him, or the party will have to accept some of the blame. That ain't going too happen. Getting rid of Xi buys the party some more time in hopes things turn around.

I wonder, will the party replace him with someone who is Trump friendly, and help save what they have? Or will they stick to being hardnose and act like they control their own destiny?

Once again we need to thank God for the wisdom our founding fathers had. When the going goes bad, we can change out our government every four years.

Technically, Xi is already out, and the CCP is looking for a hardliner who can maintain a grip on the country.
I'm not making predictions; everything I posted is already known.
I believe the public statements Trump is making are to preserve the status quo with Xi as the party voice. Trump knows that throwing in a new player in the middle of a chess match is a sign of desperation on the CCP's part, but is also starting over in a sense, since we don't know who the new player will be.

Word is, there are two: a serious hardliner in the image of Mao, the other, a more pragmatic type, slow to change, but still a hardliner. (The choice will signal which way the CCP will go, but without rebellion, they aren't going anywhere.)
Xi held power because the people weren't repulsed by his presence. How's that for a claim to fame? They don't hate me as much as the last guy.

Good points. I'm kinda doubting Xi will return. Hope I'm wrong. But if he does, it means they still fear the shit out of Trump.
The last thing the party wants is for the Chinese citizen to lose favor with those in power; this creates even more instability in a country on the verge of financial collapse.

I don't see the CCP with any good options. But their history has hardliner written all over it.

India has already said it can supply the U.S. with anything that was coming out of China. Vietnam is jumping on the opportunity to expand exports to the U.S. Both are mortal enemies of the CCP. I have no doubt Trump will use this for our benefit, for the benefit of India and Vietnam, and to put the hurt on the CCP. As you said, already three steps ahead.

These are major changes on the world stage. Why is Europe so quiet on it? I'm guessing they are on the side of the CCP. ?? Or are they too scared to say anything? Unless the war goes nuclear, the end result in Ukraine will not affect the world near as much as what is happening in China.

The EU boggles my mind. They were happy to import the third world Muscum Failure, knowing full well what the outcome would be, that's why all the anti free speech laws now in place, no one is allowed to challenge the govt, let alone post opposition on social media.

The EU was the blueprint the NWO/WEF had for the rest of the free world, yet failed, and now are the perfect example of Communist rule. Maybe their Ukraine war was all just a distraction from their failures?
Whatever happens, all of Europe is lost to the Muscum and they have only themselves to blame.

One thing is for certain. They had a goal of Destroying the free world. But who was "They"? We need to see them, we need to try them, We Need To Kill Them! They must Hang for their crimes against humanity!

Well, the cats out of the bag now. That explains why they want the war to continue, despite all the killing. It explains why they claimed Russia was to blame, at fault, evil,,,,,, when all they while they were buying from them.

A recent EU sanctions list included 2 bloggers who reported on the Ukr conflict. I recall they were Germans who currently reside in Russia. They are not allowed to travel in the EU. Maybe they have assets seized. These sanctions were issued by some executive division of the EU not any judicial branch or court.

I think it was Sebastian Sass who was just talking about this.
There is no freedom in the EU any longer, just a facade put out by the media, that they speak for the people.
Is it me, or is the rest of the world sick of the EU?

Here is some book I read. I left understanding what China was not. I was still confused.
The Party (McGregor)  This book is dated as there was very little censorship or tight control then. Mostly self censorship for career advancement.  Here was my first take away.  The CCP is like the Elks Club. You apply, if accepted, you start at the bottom. You work your way up. You serve on committees and do jobs, suck up, do not screw up then move up. A combination of elections and selections.  1 of every 13 people are party members.

The  party  is not the govt but a shadow govt. The army reports to the party, not the govt.  Every organization over 50 people must have a party member.   Very large organization must have a dedicate red phone  to party HQ they must answer in those land line days. Party can veto any business decision. No other nationwide organization will ever be allowed.

Some graft is OK. If too much you might get a bullet to the head. The party is very responsive to the will of the people.

Some senior party guy went to almost all provinces and examined census records. He produced two very thick books in then Hon Kong detailing how many people died under Mao's famines. He continued to live in party supplied retirement housing.
