Quote from: Solar on October 12, 2024, 12:31:22 PMThat's all and good, but the fact that your Charter is controlled by the Crown, a bill of Rights is essentially useless, but it looks good on paper.

You really don't quite have a grasp on how Constitutional Monarchy works, do you. How is the Charter controlled by the King?

The crown, in essence, owns Canada.

That's the point, the crown writes the rules, in spite of what the people want.

Actually, now you understand. Solar has been saying that all along. Glad to see you finally agree with him. It's the first step towards healing.

Just out of curiosity, what are the differences between the King of Canada's authority and the President of the US? There is major difference in political power. The POTUS has a lot more say in the affairs of the US than the King has in Canada.

The president has a constitution to follow.

The King is bound by the Constitution (BNA Act of 1867 and the Constitution Act of 1982,) plus convention.
However, I apologize for derailing the thread. The topic is the Conservative wave sweeping Canada. At the time the Conservative Party was riding high in the polls. If an election were held on June 23, 2024, the polls predicted the Conservatives would have won 209 out of 338 seats. Only two other governments have achieved those heights. Both Conservative.
Last night,Canada 338 posted new polling data. If the election were held yesterday, Oct. 13, Pierre Poilievre and his Conservative Party would have won 222 seats to the Liberals 57. That would be the largest majority in Canadian history. We are now in unprecedented territory.
