I listened to Trump in the context as you recommended. One of the colleges he mentioned was Harvard, a liberal arts college with degrees in Gender Studies. Work visas are already handed out like candy to these graduates, Trump by calling for permanent residence would then be giving a path to citizenship.

Immigrant Harvard graduates vote 98% Democrat. Then there is the joke online diploma mills that would be eligible.

So far Trump has given us a couple of plans he would like to carry out after he is elected. One is to round up all of those who crossed the border illegally and deport them. The other is to give those who came here legally to go to school the opportunity to stay after they graduate. As they say,, you can't please everybody.
