This is just sad...
All I ever got from my dad was, "Good, don't Screw It Up"...
My parents were never involved, though my dad would tell me who might be hiring in any given field of construction, jobs of which downright sucked.

I find it interesting how some parents simply have little faith in what they brought into the world.
Instead of kicking it out of the nest and forcing nature to do its part and prosper, they keep their prodigy in what can only be called a mentally disabling jail, and these kids will never succeed.


Of the participants who reported having a parent accompany them to a face-to-face interview, 37% mentioned having their parents visit the workplace, and 26% mentioned having a parent physically sit in the interview room.

Of those who reported having their parent(s) with them during a virtual interview, 29% reported having their parent alongside them on camera, and 71% stated that their parent was off camera.

Unbelievable! In our day this idea would never cross any of our minds. If I was an interviewer anybody who does this would NOT be hired.

The only time this ever happened, was a woman can in from the Kaplan Foundation with a group of disabled people, she wanted them to work for experience, no pay, just work.
It turned into a debacle, but we tried. These people would never be able to function on their own, ever.

She said many of them were vaccine related, this was the first time I'd ever heard about that, and this was 1984.

I wouldn't hire them. In fact, I was very leery of hiring someone in their twenties who still lived with their parents. there were the occasional ones who were needed to be at home, which put everything in a different view, but for those who had no reason for not living on their own I would thank them for coming in. It was far too easy for someone who was guaranteed three meals a day and had a roof over their head to walk off the job on a bad day.

People need to be challenged, need to have the desire to become better, to want to give to others more than they want to receive from others. If they are not willing to do that for themselves, they damn sure will not show that on the job. Bringing their parents to a job interview tells me all I need to know.

Totally agree.
I preferred married. It meant stability and a potential long term employee.
Homely middle age women were usually dependable, mostly because they had nothing at home to look forward to.
Husband was in his rut and the kids were all gone. The only drawback, they talked too much.

When I was hiring agents I found teachers to be an excellent reservoir for hiring. They have had to develop people skills and they knew hard work for low pay. Showing them how they could increase their income through hard work was appealing to them.

Really can't imagine someone bringing their parent. Had a couple of applicants bring their wife, and had their wife try to answer the questions for them.      Again, I thanked them for coming in and told them if they don't hear from me in a couple of days to continue their job hunting.

To hire her husband??      No, I don't see that much difference in someone looking for a job dragging his Mom or dragging his wife alone. Either way, that is just bad news. Ok, I'm a little slow at times. But good point. Momma never did brag on how smart her kids were. 

Living in Moms basement, a 20 something, how pathetic, where is your pride? Me, my older brother, my sister, we were all raised to be independent. "When you are 18, you are on your own", thats what I heard all my life. I was a bit of a hustler as a kid and into my teens, mowing peoples lawns, raking leaves, trimming hedges, painting fences, shoveling snow, cleaning up a bowling alley, washing windows at a pizza joint. I used to put up signs in a grocery store for yard work and go around pestering the hell out of store owners until they gave me some work.  Problem is I spent a lot of that money playing pin ball, comic books and baseball cards.

Did not see that in either interview where the guy brought his wife. What I saw was a male whose self confidence
came from having his wife next to him. I understand marriage is a union, a partnership, blah, blah. blah. But come on, a man AND A WOMAN, should be able to stand alone for a job interview. If women can give birth alone, a man should be able to go to a job interview alone.

I know from experience about one technical company, who sells assorted industrial equipment and services, employing hotter females to assist sales of that equipment.

I don't know if there were "favors" behind clothes doors, but the eye candy was present.
