I have been a part of this discussion many many times. Every time I hear one of the greatest generation complain that today's generation does not know how pull themselves up, I ask them what generation created all of those gimme programs. It's the same when I hear that little Johnny can't read, little Johnny did fine until Carter created the dept. of education.  Roosevelt was cut from the same cloth as the mayors of our liberal hell holes.
