Michigan Town Votes Out Entire Local Government over Chinese Communist Party-Linked EV Plant Construction


Residents of a small Michigan town have risen up and voted out their entire local government after officials backed plans to build a Chinese Communist Party-linked electric vehicle (EV) plant nearby.

The entire local government of Green Charter Township was voted out in a recall election.

The move came over concerns about a Chinese-affiliated company's plans to build an EV battery plant in the small town.

In a special election on Tuesday, Green Charter Township's five incumbent board members were voted out.

The board has now been replaced by five new candidates.

The town's new leaders wasted no time in the hours after the vote.

They immediately set about changing the locks on the township's main government building, according to NewsNation reporter Brian Entin.

The community of just 3,219 residents leans Republican, Entin notes.

The surrounding county voted in favor of President Donald Trump during the 2020 presidential election by a margin of 22 percentage points.

The petition that launched the recall election accused town officials of ignoring voter concerns over China-linked company Gotion's plan to open a $2.3 billion EV plant there.

Although it is backed by Volkswagen, with operations in Germany, Gotion's parent company is based in China.

Gotion has links to China's ruling Communist Party.

I knew where you meant to post this, and I agree. If not for the help of local police and dogs, these morons couldn't find a nail in their own collective feet.
