A new book about Fox News has put Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in a tight spot.

According to "The Fall: The End of Fox News and the Murdoch Dynasty," DeSantis "kicked" Tucker Carlson's dog under the table during a dinner in Florida.

"When they lived in Washington, Susie Carlson wouldn't even see politicians.

"Carlson himself may have known everyone, dirtied himself for a paycheck, but not his wife.

"In her heart, it was 1985 and still a Wasp world, absent people, in Susie Carlson's description and worldview, who were "impolite, hyper-ambitious, fraudulent."

"She had no idea what was happening in the news and no interest in it.

"Her world was her children, her dogs, and the books she was reading.

"So the DeSantises were put to the Susie Carlson test.

"They failed it miserably," the book claims.

"They had a total inability to read the room — one with a genteel, stay-at-home woman, here in her own house.

"For two hours, Ron DeSantis sat at her table talking in an outdoor voice indoors, failing to observe any basics of conversational ritual or propriety, reeling off an unself-conscious list of his programs and initiatives and political accomplishments.

"Impersonal, cold, uninterested in anything outside of himself," the book says.

"The Carlsons are dog people with four spaniels, the progeny of other spaniels they have had before, who sleep in their bed.

"DeSantis pushed the dog under the table. Had he kicked the dog?

"Susie Carlson's judgment was clear: She did not ever want to be anywhere near anybody like that ever again.

"Her husband agreed.

"DeSantis, in Carlson's view, was a 'fascist.' Forget Ron DeSantis."

QuoteA new CNN primary poll has revealed some interesting changes in the Republican political landscape. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who many have viewed as the most pressing threat to former President Donald Trump's chances of securing the GOP nomination, has tumbled to fifth place among likely Republican voters in New Hampshire, a key state for the primaries.

That puts him below people who have never been heard of before.

No one likes people who kick other peoples dogs under the table.

Quote from: Sick Of Silence on September 24, 2023, 08:49:10 AMLet's be honest: we need to separate the difference between "kicking" a dog and "pushing" it away with your foot. If the damn mutt hasn't any manners or training, I understand. Kicking is abuse. Nudging isn't.

I would have the same opinion if it was a next door neighbor. I hate these overexagerated stories that try make Republicans look bad, regardless if they are RINOs.

You don't own dogs, do you?
You are a guest in my house, you are not allowed to push any family members around for no reason. Period!

You don't have company over, do you?
Hopefully you make your "family members" mind themselves when company is over. I don't need or want your dog growling and biting my pants leg. These are my nice jeans. You going to clean them or replace them?

Your response sounded like every other parent that doesn't discipline their child when they act up. You get mad at the other person when they say or do something to stop it.

Don't put guests in that situation. If you haven't trained them, or they have a history of things like that, put them in a separate room, garage, or in the back yard. It is inconsiderate for a guest to have to experience that when trying to be your friend.

I, like everyone else, can be engaged with your pet or kid as a guest can be. If either of them can't behave, put them elsewhere. I can respect your household, as long as you respect my presence.
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street I'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.
This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.
How come nobody was interested in educating people about these rights until online videos got monetization?

Whole lotta ASSumin going on.
If you saw the dogs Carlson has, you'd know these are very mild mannered dogs that are a part of his family and don't bite.

Dogs and children are not in anyway the same. He was a guest, it's not his place to force change in their living arrangements. Obviously the dog yelped when it was kicked, or no one would have even noticed.
Like you, Ron doesn't like animals either, and exposing himself showed the world what an ass he is.

One would expect a guest to ask politely first, rather than demand change in my home.
My dogs are extremely well behaved, they come first over friends and my friends all love our dogs, and have never had a single issue with them.
Nor would they ever kick them, that's wrong on every level.

You certainly assume a lot. There is no doubt these dogs lay by their feet under the table regularly, something you seem to think is somehow rude.
If Ron didn't have enough leg room, he should have asked, I'm certain the Carlson's would have accommodated him.

Kind of like furnishings, you don't like how I decorated my place? Too damn Bad!
My dogs are free to move about my home, something even guests know they can't do beyond the bathroom.
Ron was a guest, so the responsibility of decorum rests on his shoulders.

Ron should have been on his best behavior in Tuckers home, after all, he was there hoping to win over a King maker.
He fucked up, it's really that simple.

I never ASSume that anybody's pets nor kids are well behaved. I don't care if they are yours, DeSantis's, Trump's, Tucker's, or my neighbors. The only dog I would ever consider to be trained is a service dog (and I know not to pet it because it has a job).

Again. Nobody is defending DeSantis if he actually tried to harm an animal without cause. But, I will always be on the side of a human if an animal attacks a person.
