Years ago there were many discussions on this forum about the importance of cleaning up the republican party, to stop electing liberal republicans. there were several who argued that a rino was better than a democrat. We are paying for that now. How far down are we? There is only one candidate who will say "we need to put America first".

That's the thing, there was no difference in the two. The GOP loved playing the underdog, loved not being in power, so they didn't have to answer to the people.
They shared their end goals, as they helped the DNC at every turn.

It still applies, I do see one area where the left has changed. The left no longer fear the constitution. There is a new way to go around the constitution, if the SCOTUS rules a law unconstitutional, change a word here and there and pass it again. If challenged, shop for your neighborhood liberal judge. The new law will be in effect for a couple of years while it makes it's way up the ladder. This is where I fear the next election, many states changed the voting rules unconstitutionally, they will do it again at the last minute. The ballots are all ready to be counted.

You make a great point as well, it also exposes just how little the GOP has done to impede the left, almost as if they were helping them to destroy our Electoral College, the root of our election system.

Sure, the Dims are evil, but I see the GOP as the real enemy of this great Nation in how they are always there to bail out the left.

I am not going to discount all laws, but 17000 is what we need to look at. Is 17000 different laws, or are those laws so fluffed up with lawyer speak that they are not to the point and have lookholes?

I remember presidental candidate saying that saying laws should be simple, to be able to be discussed at the dinner table. I agree.

There may be some truth to this.
